Highest Monday Collections of 2016: FAN comes 3rd

Shah Rukh Khan’s FAN takes the 3rd spot in the highest Monday collections of 2016, behind the Monday business of Akshay Kumar’s Airlift and The Jungle Book. However, since it was a big film released on 3500 screens with plenty of shows at multiplexes, FAN had to be at around Airlift’s level on Monday.

FAN Monday (Day 4) Box Office Collection Update

FAN has shown a significantly big drop in both occupancy and collections on Monday. The average occupancy at centres that we tracked has dropped by around 50-60% from Friday and the collections too is low due to cheaper weekday ticket prices. The drop is Pan-India. Single-screen business has crashed and multiplexes in cities too have shown bigger than expected drops. And unless the film picks up in the night, the Monday collections are likely to come in the 6-7 crore range.

Dishoom is coming on 29th July, confirms Sajid Nadiadwala

Producer Sajid Nadiadwala has confirmed that his upcoming production ‘Dishoom’ will release on 29th July, adding that it wouldn’t matter to him if any other film releases on the same date. Nadiadwala’s response comes amidst rumours over Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Raees’ moving from Eid and taking the date that’s currently with ‘Dishoom’.

FAN Weekend Box Office Collections

FAN had a decent first weekend at the box office, collecting Rs 52.35 crore in 3 days. While the weekend numbers are good, the problem for the film is the trend. When the Friday collections are higher than the Sunday total, it an indication that the word-of-mouth for the film is mixed to negative.
