Many of our readers have been asking for this comparison, so here we go. A comparison between the last ‘non-festive’ release of the three Khans – Aamir’s Talaash (2012), Salman’s Jai Ho (2014) and Shah Rukh Khan’s FAN that has just released last weekend.
None of the three movies have fared well at the box office, highlighting the importance of Eid, Diwali and Christmas for the Khans.
Now that they’ve crossed 50, for the Khans to sustain their super-stardom and prolong their careers in the industry, two things will be very important – films with good content and the most crucial thing could be to get the big festive weekends. Because it’s only during these weekends when the big 250 – 300 grossers come.
Aamir currently has a stronghold over Christmas, Salman has made the Eid weekend his own and the two are currently dominating the industry with major 300 crore grossers.
Shah Rukh has slipped in India with Dilwale and FAN. But it’ll be a matter of one film that strikes gold at the box office. A universal success like Bajrangi Bhaijaan or PK is what he needs and it has to come quickly.
Interestingly, while Aamir and Salman’s career has been filled with ups and downs, the feeling of not dominating the industry is something that’s new for Shah Rukh. More so after FAN, because the gap between him and the Top 2 in India has widened.
So it’ll be interesting to see how he handles it. The big question will be, if he can climb the ladder to the top again. Especially at the domestic (India) box office, because overseas Shah Rukh is still the biggest crowd puller.

dont compare fan statistically with craps like jai ho and talash…..it will be cult classic for srk after few years like agneepath for amitabh……

Everyone knows that this is the era of content rich films with so many offbeat niche films doing well & often scoring beyond expectations. That’s y Fan’s failure comes as a huge shocker bcz it got the critical acclaim u expect from a film of this kind
all khan films are Super hit in Russia.. I love Hindi movie
Fan will remain steady for sure.. and will touch 125cr.. SRK rocks.. He will get all awards this year

Fan (SRK) vs TALAASH (Amir+2 big actress) is okay as they both belong to almost same genre….but Jai ho was a highly commercial movie and a remake of a blockbuster movie released on Republic day (Salman coming after 1.5years)….
Big stars need guts to do films like Fan, Talaash, dhobighat, chakde, mangal pandey, pahele,swades etc…. Some big stars never try something out of box and do an offbeat movie….
To come to FAN this kinda genre never really work even if it has the best WOM…
TALWAR is the best example aa it has the best WOM(might be the best of the 2015)
But film doesn’t have any songs and no appeal at masses…

So its mean that khans are nothing without big holidays……..Its a time to for standing ovation and salute to Akshay kumar who release 4 films in a year without any fear…………Indicine think if he come on big holiday then he struck the gold at boxoffice…………AK sir you are really khatro ke khildi.

now Indicine had gone to this level………Comparison done with 5 and 2.5 years old movies……Also content of Jai Ho was not good.

In short, Kapoor and Sons despite having half the screens of FAN and despite not having a superstar male lead almost matched the first weekend collections of FAN which had the SRK brand + YRF combo…not looking good for SRK
FAN has not collected upto expectation but respect for SRK n YRF for not manupulating collections as they could have easily added 5-10Cr extra to show film is doing well but they stick to real collections #Respect
Feeling of nt dominating is new to srk enough said comparatively srk is still ahead at lest he dont have a disasters in carrier as other had
