Most certainly, it does have more than a decent chance. 3 Idiots collected Rs 66 crore ‘after’ its second week and PK is expected to sustain on a higher level as there are no major releases this week. In fact, PK could be the first choice at multiplexes next week too, as Tevar is expected to take a good opening at mass centres / single-screens.

If the opening day business is above 13 crore, the film has a good chance of crossing the 60 crore mark by the end of its extended 4-day weekend (Monday is a holiday for Republic Day). Assuming that the film carries good word-of-mouth, it should then collect 75-80 crore first week and 120 crore plus lifetime. Opening will be crucial.

How are they sustaining with such huge losses? – Vikas (New Delhi) Answer: The losses theatrically are around Rs 100 crore for the month of November. ‘The Shaukeens’ was made on a budget of 39 crore (estimate) including all costs, and the theatrical recovery was around 14 cr.
