A. Prem Ratan Dhan Payo is likely to be a typical Sooraj Barjatya film. It will appeal towards the family audience and will do well at smaller centres too. Circuits like Bihar, UP, C.I and C.P are huge for Barjatya movies. But the big test, like we have already said, is the youth. If they take a liking to the film, there would be no stopping the 2015 Diwali release.
Q. Can Akshay Kumar’s Baby collect Rs 20 crore on its opening day and 150 plus final collection in India or will it be yet another 70 crore grosser? (Nishant)
A. Box office is unpredictable. Who knows what sort of opening Baby will take? But based on the response to the trailer and the performance of Akshay-Neeraj’s Special 26, it would be difficult to achieve 20 crore on Day 1. Baby is likely to be a multiplex-targeted film, that would grow depending on how the content is liked. Opening of 15 cr would be excellent!

A. Lifetime collections has absolutely nothing to do with stardom. Star power is judged based on the opening day and weekend collections. Shahrukh Khan has consistently delivered record box office opening, whether it is Ra One (second day was the highest of all time), Chennai Express (highest opening day and weekend) and 2014 is likely to belong to him too (Happy New Year collected 44.97 cr on Day 1). The final total (i.e the highest grosser) depends on star power, genre, director and several other factors like release date and period. Also, the very fact that SRK has never really seen his career graph go down, speaks volumes of his established fan base. His consistency is unmatched too, both in the domestic markets and internationally.

The Last Question was not fair…As the highest grossing movie for a year depends on many factors…For example Chennai Express missed that record only becoz Dhoom 3 was released in the same year…What if Chennai Express released in 2010, 2011 or 2012..Or at the same time what if Dhoom 3 had released this year ? So it depends on many factors..And as far as the world wide collections are concerned, then Ra one was the highest grosser in 2011 .

onLy way prdp cn bcm an evergreen movie is if it deals with bold subjects and shows a progressive mentality.for example 2 states got so much luv despite being d same old family drama was bcz it dealt with subjects such as domestic violence,rough relation btwn father-son including son slapping father scene after being silently listening to yrs of domestic violence that father used do to her mother.

SRK’s CE created a new lifetime record which none of salman’s recent films did and was only 2nd highest because it released in the same year as dhoom 3 (the biggest franchise).
Stardom = giving big openings and hits regardless of the type of film. HNY is SRK’s biggest opener since OSO and biggest in bollywood by a margin, says it all about his stardom.

Have seen Many salmanfans commenting like “CE did 227 crores due to Rohit,DP,Yo Yo Honey Singh along with SRK or K3 did 244 crores due to franchise,PC,rakeshji and Hro while for the 233 crores of Kick, all credits go to salman as it was directed by a new director and it had a b-grade heroine”(According to Salmanfans).
My question is, if Salman can do 233 crores by himself only, then why jai ho did only 111 crores? Now these people will say that jai ho had poor trailer, poor heroine,poor director,no holidays etc etc etc . So in one side, they are saying that Kick did 233 crores due to salman only while in other hand they will say about poor trailer,music and directors.
It clearly shows that if a film is well-received ,it will do good. One actor cann’t give a BB or ATBB or ATHG only by himself.
For Kick, ofcourse salman’s starpower worked. But you cann’t ignore the well-received trailer and Music, Festive release factor and the performances(specially by Nawaz Siddiqui) and The mixed to positive WOM.
Similar for K3, Hrithik’s stardom worked,but we cann’t ignore the diwali release and Franchise value which was the 2nd biggest after Dhoom.
