Saala Khadoos Day 1 (Friday) Box Office Collections

Saala Khadoos has collected Rs 2.19 crore on Day 1 at the box office, which is extremely poor when you consider the fact that it was well-promoted prior to release. The occupancy throughout the day was poor, even though evening shows did pick up. The Hindi version was disastrous collecting Rs 1.28 crore on Day 1, while the Tamil version was below-the-mark collecting Rs 0.91 crore.

Kya Kool Hai Hum 3 First Week Box Office Collections

Balaji Motion Pictures’ Kya Kool Hai Hum 3 has collected Rs 29.65 crore in its first week at the box office, which is poor considering the fact that it had to collect a little more than Rs 65 crore to recover costs. The comedy film opened well at the box office on Friday, but showed poor trends over the weekend. The final blow came on Monday, when KKHH3 dropped to less than  3 crore. Moreover, it had one national holiday (for Republic Day) but it didn’t really matter as collections were already down to pretty low levels. Kya Kool Hai Hum 3 will finish with lifetime business of less than Rs 35 crore, which is lower than the lifetime collections of the previous film in the series. Verdict – Flop

Airlift Day 6 (Wednesday) Box Office Collections

Airlift dropped on Day 6 at the box office, which is its first major drop after performing exceedingly well over the extended 5-day weekend at the box office. The film has collected Rs 6 crore on Day 6, which is a drop of 51% from its first Friday. The 6-day total of the film is Rs 78.5 crore and Airlift is now looking at first week business of around 84-85 crore.

Airlift Day 3 (Sunday) and Weekend Box Office Collections

Akshay Kumar’s Airlift is on course to become the first HIT of 2016, as the film could recover costs by the end of its first week at the box office. The Raja Menon directed film has collected Rs 44.3 crore in its first weekend, showing excellent trends both on Saturday and Sunday.

Kya Kool Hai Hum 3 Day 2 (Saturday) Box Office Collections

Kya Kool Hai Hum 3 has shown a big drop on Day 2 at the box office. Even though films that perform well at single-screens and mass centres decline on Day 2, the drop for the sex comedy is huge. The third film has been below expectations, as the previous film in the series ‘Kya Super Kool Hai Hum’ in 2012 collected Rs 7 crore on Friday, Rs 7.1 crore on Saturday and Rs 8.4 crore on Sunday.

Top 3 Grossers of the Month: Airlift beats Race 2

Note: All figures are from official sources. January: Hrithik Roshan’s 4 year old film Agneepath continues to be highest grosser of January, followed by Jai Ho and Race 2. The target for 2016’s biggest January film is Rs 102 crore to become the third highest grosser of the month or 123 crore to become the highest grosser of the month. Update: Airlift has now become the 3rd highest grosser of January, beating the lifetime business of Race 2. The next target is Jai Ho and finally Agneepath.

Airlift Box Office Opening

Airlift has taken a good opening at the box office, with most centres recording higher occupancy than Akshay Kumar’s previous Republic Day weekend release ‘Baby’. The opening is around the 40% range in major cities, which is good for a thriller film releasing on a working Friday.
