The craze for Hrithik Roshan’s Kites in the overseas markets is  unprecedented, as the film gears up for the biggest and widest Bollywood release ever with over 200 prints  in the United States and Canada. Due to the craze, demand and stupendous response to the advance booking, the distributors (Reliance Big Pictures) have decided to hold special paid previews a day before the actual release date on  May 20th 2010. For many theatres, that usually show only Hollywood

A short review for primarily two reasons. One, not many are keen on watching this Priyadarshan directed film starring India’s first and arguably only child superstar Darsheel Safary and two, the trailers weren’t too promising and neither is the film. Bum Bum Bole is about Pinu (Darsheel Safary) and his family. His father Khogiran (Atul Kulkarni) and mother (Rituparna Sengupta) have lost their jobs.  And although the family suffers from poverty, its Khogiram’s dream to see his kids well educated. He can’t afford school fees or uniform, yet he somehow manages to send them to good schools.

Housefull Box office : 75 crores in India, 20 crores overseas : Eros

The official numbers from Eros are out and Akshay Kumar’s Housefull has managed to nett a staggering 52 crores in Week 1. The film has grossed 75 crores in India and 20 crores overseas taking its Week 1 worldwide total to 95 crores. A 52 crore nett for a 75 crore gross in India seems  to be slightly on the higher side, as the entertainment taxes (all India average) is somewhere around

Parmeet Sethi, best remembered for his negative act in Shahrukh Khan’s Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, makes his directorial debut with Badmaash Company starring Shahid Kapoor, Anushka Sharma (who made her debut in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi in 2008), Meiyang Chang (Indian Idol fame), Vir Das and Anupam Kher. Coming from Yashraj Films, the film was believed to be similar to Bunty Aur Babli, but Shahid in an interview said “Badmaash Company is a lot more believable, Bunty and Babli was restricted in conning.” Is Badmaash Company smart and entertaining enough?
