We have said it before and we say it again – Housefull was a much better film than every Akshay Kumar film in 2009 and the collections – in Week 2 – prove just that. Agreed several factors like the perfectly timed release and brilliant promotion helped the film, but any film, if rejected by the audience can never survive beyond its initial weekend. The fact that Housefull did, is a testament that the film has been liked by the majority of those who have watched it.
After recording fantastic collections in Week 1, Housefull has sustained well in Week 2. While most of Akshay’s films last year folded up under 50 crores, Housefull has crossed the 60 crore mark in less than 2 weeks.
With no major release till Kites (May 21st), the film is expected to continue its good run at ticket window. Stay tuned for more.

P L Thenappan the producer of the 1998 Tamil film, Kaathala Kaathala starring Kamal Hassan, Prabhudeva, Rambha, Soundarya filed a complaint with the Tamil Film Producers Council alleging that producer Sajid Nadiadwala and director Sajid Khan had remade his film into Hindi without proper permission.[21]
In his complaint, Thenappan said, "I was shocked when I watched the Hindi film as nearly 60 per cent of the scenes from Kadhala Kadhala are there,”. Also Stating that he was in talks with Nadiadwala about selling the remake rights more than a year ago and the deal did not go through.[21]
The film also faced controversy due to the remixed version of a song Apni Toh Jaise Taise, originally from the 1981 film Laawaris directed by Prakash Mehra. The Calcutta High Court restrained producer Sajid Nadiadwala from the cinematic use of the song.
