Salman Khan’s Veer has opened to a fantastic response at the box office and is currently on a record-breaking spree on single screens. Business is best in North, East and Central India and worst down South.
Single screen business is 90% on Day 1 while multiplexes have seen around 50-60% average through the day. Combined, Veer has managed to nett 7 crores on Day 1 all over India.
As the film is performing best at single screens, it would be unfair to compare Veer based on box office nett collections. Going by the distributors share, the Day 1 business of Veer is next only to Aamir Khan’s 3 Idiots and Ghajini.
Saturday too, the business is excellent at single screens and it would be very interesting to see how the film performs on its first crucial weekday. Tuesday, being a holiday (Republic day) should also boost the Week 1 collections.
If the trending is close to as good as Wanted, Veer should easily attain HIT status.

Hey, I have heard from a Salman hater in bollybusiness dat sunday’s collection iz 7.5 crore nd den he said total weekend collection z 20.5 crore which actually cant be true. Bcoz according 2 bollybusiness da 1st 2 days collection was 13.68 crore. 13.68+7.5=21.18 crore………….I dnt beleve him. Saturday’s collection should be over 7 crore nd sunday’s collection must be over 8 crore. Indicine, eagerly waiting 4 ur update. U alz give true numbers. Plz inform us abt da weekend collection.

Our ongoing coverage of Bollywood extravagnaza Veer continues with box office figures and more exclusive image from the U.K. Premier of the film. Despite negative reviews from some media outlets, Veer appears to be the 2nd or 3rd biggest grossing Bollywood film on its first day ever.
Salman Khan urged his fans to ignore the negative reviews and see the movie for themselves. Negative reviews or not, it appears Salman carries more clout with his millions of fans than movie reviewers do. Star power is alive and well in Bollywood.
According to the numbers we have received from inside the Veer camp, the film took in roughly 7.01 Crore, or about $1.5 million dollars on its first day, that’s in India alone. This news puts Veer just beneath Three Idiots in single screening, first day revenue. Veer is on a course to eclipse Wanted depending on the weekday and ongoing attendance. This news reflects both the appeal of Salman Khan, and how little people depend on movie reviews – at least when their heroes are involved.
Meanwhile, fans voiced their support for Khan as he ran in a Jaipur half-marathon today. Regardless of the muddy reviews for the film, Salmon is still loved by many millions.
As for the other stars of Veer, most of the UK cast and crew appeared at the premier there. The beaufiful Lisa Lazarus in her debut film poses next to veteran actor (and as we learned dry comedian) William Chubb. Action/Drama/Comedy: 7/10
Cinematography: 8/10
Story/ Screenplay/ Dialogues: Story could have been better. It doesn’t look real/ Screenplay was good but was not first-rate. Dialogues especially delivered by Salman were mind blowing.
Performance: Salman and Mithunda were brilliant, but not got the support from the rest of the cast. Zarine and Jackie shroff were average. Sohail should quit acting .He irritates in some of the scenes.
Music: It was an above average score. Surili ankhiyoun wale and Salaam aaya are melodious and are easy on ears. Kanha especially the chorus wants you asking for more, Taali lacks the punch and Meherbaniyan is just an average. The album is deficient with a super hit number.
Action/Drama: Action was the high point of the film. Tailor made scenes and well performed stunts, hats off to Salman khan for his bravery acts. The one thing which was lacking is Drama. Comedy was just about OK; indeed it was not required.
Cinematography: You cannot take your eyes off. Splendid job.
The high point if the film is one and only Salman Khan. Go watch it only for Salman Khan. Don’t miss it.

just come back from the cinema watching veer actually it was a very good movie but the way the critics thrashed it was a bit harsh on salman, and talking about his performance it was good but a woudnt rate it as one of his best of his career, one thing i didnt like about it theres a few extra songs in the movie which i think they should have deleted them, total paisa vasool film

It’s a HIT. Time for critics to shut up and watch the BOX OFFICE NUMBERS. Excellent movie in all aspects. This time audience did not listened to the critics/media. Not even Taran’s review as they believe in Salman and his efforts. Finally, the critics are taking their comments out from their websites so early. It shows that a good movie made with right intentions can run and AUDIENCE HAS THE FINAL VERDICT – NOT MEDIA.
The AUDIENCE REVIEWS are posted on yahoo movies and bollywood hungama/indiafm.com. The ratings are coming to between 4.09 to 4.5 out of 5. Do yourself a favor. Go and watch it and you will love it. This is one of nice patriotic movies with message. I saw the last show in IL and it was housefull. Salman rocks. 2 days have passed and the movie is going strong by word of mouth. I am confident it will be a hit no matter what critics says.
