Salman Khan’s Veer has opened to a fantastic response at the box office and is currently on a record-breaking spree on single screens. Business is best in North, East and Central India and worst down South.
Single screen business is 90% on Day 1 while multiplexes have seen around 50-60% average through the day. Combined, Veer has managed to nett 7 crores on Day 1 all over India.
As the film is performing best at single screens, it would be unfair to compare Veer based on box office nett collections. Going by the distributors share, the Day 1 business of Veer is next only to Aamir Khan’s 3 Idiots and Ghajini.
Saturday too, the business is excellent at single screens and it would be very interesting to see how the film performs on its first crucial weekday. Tuesday, being a holiday (Republic day) should also boost the Week 1 collections.
If the trending is close to as good as Wanted, Veer should easily attain HIT status.
NEW DELHI: Salman Khan’s much ambitious period drama “Veer” has fallen flat at the box office despite having an extended weekend for business,
thanks to Republic Day. The movie has not gone beyond an average 45 percent occupancy over the initial weekend.
Released Friday, the film was a solo release, but has failed to attract masses.
” ‘Veer’ is an average movie. While the constant on Friday and Saturday was only 44 percent occupancy, it dropped to 39 percent on Sunday and has been on an average only 43 percent over the initial weekend,” Amit Awasthi, manager (programming and operations) of Spice Cinemas at Noida, told.
“It is now expected to fall around 30-35 percent. We were running 19 shows per day and in the new week, we will change it to eight shows per day,” he added.

The public has a mind of its own and even in a worst case scenario the film will emerge an average success with a 25 crore all India distributor share. Veer is the first success of 2010 and if it can sustain in its second weekend then it will emerge the first hit of 2010 with a 30 crore plus

Veer has done good first weekend business of 21 Crore nett thanks to bumper business in single screens. The film did 7 crore nett on Friday, Saturday saw a drop with 6.25 crore nett business and Sunday was good with 7.75 crore nett. Tuesday is Republic Day holiday so around 35-36 crore nett business can be expected over the first week.
Veer has got a big thumbs down from the critics and media but at the box office it has performed well till now. The film will emerge a hit in Rajasthan while circuits like Delhi/UP, Bihar, CP Berar and CI may also do hit business. Single screen business is huge in the Hindi belt.

But da problem z dat even pointing such figures in da eyes of dese ignorant ppl like Nauman, Amish, Munish, Megha, Adiii, Aakash nd others, wont open deir eyes at all. Dey will keep on repeating deir same bakwas. Dey dnt understand dat superstar z not a product of 4-5 years. It needs longivity as Salman, Shahrukh nd Aamir hav shown 4 da last 20 years. Q. How does the first day and weekend of Veer compare to a film like Jodhaa Akbar which was similar?
A. There is a big difference as far as opening is concerned. The first day for Veer is double of Jodha Akbar with 7 crore nett as against the 3.50 crore nett of Jodha Akbar. The weekend business of Jodha Akbar was 13 crore nett and this should easily be beaten by Veer.
U guyz say Jodha Akbar as a superhit. Den wat should Veer be called ? Blockbuster. Logical, isn’t it ?

Latest boxoffice trendings suggest that veer will do average or below average business. Its really disappointing since the movie is good.

The title was apt… and tabloids went to town with it. Fatrina …. giggled the Press, scoffing at her hefty frame in ‘Veer.’ But fact remains, that the lissome Zarine Khan of today, was a generously plump 100 kgs when she was quite young.
“I’m the only earning member of my family, “admits Zarine in a newspaper chat. “My father left us when I was 18 and I took to eating and binging to keep away the pain. But I hit the gym and knocked off those kgs when I decided to get into modelling.”
Veering into ‘Veer’, she discloses, “Salman always says that I am destiny’s child and that is why I was chosen for this film. I was thin when walked into this film, but then I was told to go on a chocolate diet and gain weight, because princesses in those days were never skinny.” Guess, it’s just fat of the matter

srijon, u cant compare JA to veer, veer had bigger screen, JA didn’t have bigger prints, so comparison is really silly. kurbaan did 4 crs due to prints does that make kurbaan a bigger film. lol
srijon, akki is a superstar thats why he has survived for 20 years, his growth has been sepll bidningly incredible, everytime people said he wont succeeed, has proved them wrong, and this decade akkis net BO this decade from successful films has generated more than 1000 crore net, more than anyother superstars this decade so shutup.

VEER only really has Salman and Salman alone. da day any other actor makes a film like WANTED a super hit den ill stop talking. it was a film which was da norm in da 90’s. Salman added his own charisma, personality and attitude to da film.
same wid VEER. i was disappointed wid ceratin parts and da director messed up. Salman really shined through all da bad parts.

naveed whatever it was, JA succeeded BO and with the critics also internationally, also naveed veer didn’t have sallu alone, it had katz lookalike, it had mithunda 3 times national award winner and 80s mega superstar, jackie shroff and had director who gave one of the biggest alltime Blockbuster in bollywood history. even akki made Bhool Bhuliya where he wasn’t paired with an actress superduper hit.
