It was exactly a month ago on this day that Yash Raj Films’ opened its gates for Shah Rukh Khan fans. The trailer of film was launched with much fanfare and the response was positive too.
But with two weeks to go for the theatrical release of FAN, the makers of the film are struggling to sustain the buzz. The interest level around the film has dipped quite considerably in the last few days and the film is now almost entirely dependent on Shah Rukh Khan’s star power to give it a good initial on April 15.
The promos on television are also getting repetitive with each passing day. The lack of songs and variety in promos is hurting the pre-release campaign of the film. The makers do not have units to shuffle, the ‘Jabra’ fan anthem has released in different versions, but the visuals of the song and the tune are the same.
It’s now time for YRF to release a few dialogue promos and interesting bits from the film to generate curiosity. It’ll be interesting to see what YRF and SRK have planned for the next 15 days, leading up to the big release of the film.
What’s generating interest:
- Shah Rukh Khan: The film is all about him, his larger than life persona and the fan-following that he commands. And that fan-following will be put to test on April 15. It’ll be SRK’s name that will have to sell tickets on the Friday of release, before the word-of-mouth comes into play.
- Theatrical trailer: The trailer had generated quite a bit of interest around the film.
What’s stopping the film:
- Lack of variety in promos: The Jabra song was released 45 days ago and the trailer was launched 30 days ago. Since then, there hasn’t been anything to sustain the interest level of the audience.
- Limited appeal: Fan isn’t a very commercial film, it doesn’t have a popular female lady, nor does it have too many song and dance numbers. This will restrict the business of FAN at smaller centres.
- Non SRK fans: Die-hard fans don’t care about trailers or songs. Presence of their favourite star is reason enough to purchase a ticket on Friday morning. But will the general audience want to watch a film that celebrates SRK? That’s the big question, because the audience are well aware of the fact that Shah Rukh has Raees lined up for release, less than 3 months after FAN.
The opening day of FAN is currently trending at Rs 19.2 crore on IndicineFBO for Day 1 at the box office.
Whatever will be the buzz,FAN gonna kick the butts of haters after release…mark my words

This movie seems to be SRK’s best in terms of content yet there’s something wrong with his marketing strategy… First he overtly marketed a dud like ‘Dilwale’ which came out to be smoke without fire, now for ‘Fan’ first he had said that it’ll be a niche film, but the way trailer had come out, it is a commercial thriller (much like Rajesh Khanna’s songless classic ‘Ittefaq’ directed by Late Shree Yash chopra jee)… Thriller’s needs to be advertised with a certain sutlety and gradually keeping up the public interest just 2 weeks before release is enough, because you can’t show much in trailers… what works is less than 90seconds teasers in case of thrillers… Remember how Aamir marketed ‘Talaash’, He never went over the top with the movie… If anything can restrict a content oriented film like ‘Fan’, it will only by SRK’s over the top antics…
Only KING KHAN can sustain the buzz despite of any matter; KING KHAN promoting the FAN every show likes of Mirchi awards, TOIFA, all Dubai media, Sare ga ma, Kapil Sharma Show, Comedy nights bachao, etc…………..
Jabra fan song was just an overated song actually it is the most irritated song and srk s moves like monkey made it worst for song thats why after release of jabra song it was completely rejected and the buz also get decrease

Chunky Pandey Fan won’t even open 15 cr, so don’t blabber against salman who gives back to back blockbusters.

Indicine is missing a point here. SRK is smart enough to identify that T20 WC fever is high and there is no point launching anything new as people wont pay too much heed.
Once T20 extravaganza is over we will see sudden increase in FAN promotion.

Jai Ho had almost similar ticket prices as Agneepath which was released in 2012. Just check the 4th link of Indicine article about Movie ticket pricing, HNY and Jai Ho released in same year with a gap of 10 months but a 100 rupees of difference on the average ticket price. Hopefully these facts are enough to zip your mouth !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
