These predictions are real hard to get right, simply because box office is very unpredictably and a lot depends on the merits of a film. But a film like My Name Is Khan, irrespective of how it turns out to be, is likely to open to huge numbers. The first weekend will no doubt be record breaking, both overseas and India.
Here is our prediction for the year’s most awaited release – My Name Is Khan directed by Karan Johar starring Shahrukh Khan and Kajol!
- Opening weekend – 30 crores minimum, could even be as high as 38 – 40 crores including paid previews.
- Week 1 (if loved): 60 crores plus, could easily beat Ghajini.
- Week 1 (if mixed): 55 – 60 crores
- Week 1 (if disliked): 50 – 53 crores
- Lifetime (if loved): 110 – 120 crores. The repeat value is unlikely to be as high as 3 Idiots.
- Lifetime (if mixed): 100 – 110 crores.
- Lifetime (if disliked): 75 – 80 crores
Overseas, the film is likely to beat the record of 3 Idiots even if the reactions are mixed, mainly due to the wide release and the SRK – Karan – Kajol fan-following. $20 million plus is a possibility if the film is loved.
Indian box office numbers will be more interesting though, here are some reasons why
- Aamir Khan currently holds the record for two of the biggest money spinners ever – Ghajini and 3 Idiots. While MNIK is not expected to break the records set by 3 Idiots, it will be interesting to see if the film can beat the 15 month old Ghajini in India.
- Can MNIK beat the opening weekend record of 3 Idiots?
- Can MNIK beat the opening week record of Ghajini or even 3 Idiots?

He’s had an enduring affair with football. And Salman Khan plans to vroom into South Africa between June 11 and July 11 to catch the 2010 FIFA World Cup TM action, live in the host nation.
“Sport speaks a universal language,” he says. His earlier quote: ‘Sports and religion should not mix’, though, made headlines and earned him the communal ire of the Sena.
The shirtless Khan has made several trips to South Africa, and has also had the good fortune of playing around with ‘Zakumi’
(a leopard with green hair), the official mascot for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Incidentally, the tournament’s official slogan goes: ‘Ke Nako’ meaning, ‘It is time’.

Salman sprained his arm while shooting for Dabanng

The injury is serious and shooting for the Arbaaz Khan’s Dabanng has been cancelled for next few days.
Says an eyewitness, “Salman was shooting a complex action scene with action director Vijayan (Wanted) when he tore a ligament in his right arm. He could barely move it after that.”
In great pain
Though the actor took some painkillers and finished his scene that day, it was obvious that he was in great discomfort and pain. But after pack-up, he requested Vijayan to shoot without him for a couple of days.
Producer-director Arbaaz Khan confirms, “Salman had an old injury or maybe the ligament he sprained was already strained.When he started shooting, the injury got aggravated.”
Arbaaz adds, “Salman took painkillers that day but by evening, his arm was all swollen and bruised. The next day, it got worse and he requested our action master to shoot without him for a day. It’s difficult to do action scenes without lifting your arms and he couldn’t do that. Salman is still in pain.”

SRK signs (GREAT) pictures for two females!
It all happened at the London airports when Shahrukh Khan came out of the scanning room. Two female security officers came out of the room with two nude images of King Khan and asked him to sign on it. Ignorant about the trick played on him, Shahrukh Khan signed over it. He has agreed to the entire incident on BBC talk show to the host Jonathan Ross. Last week, the British Government has claimed to destroy the details of the human anatomy after checking all the details otherwise it might pose a risk to the passenger’s safety.
Narrating the entire incident, King Khan said, I came out [of the scanner] and then I saw these girls and they had these printouts,” Khan said.
“So I looked at them, I thought maybe it’s a form you’re supposed to [sign] … and you could see everything inside. And then I’ve autographed them for them.
The scanners are in use at Heathrow and Manchester airports. British transport secretary Lord Adonis told the BBC last week the new system was the same as a “pat-down” search. “A pat-down search is a pretty intrusive procedure but people accept that because it is important that we do detect whether there are weapons or other powerful substances that people may be carrying,” he said.

Week 5: Movie will release in differnt countries as a part of Phase 2 release and collects another 200Crores
