Remo D’Souza’s ABCD 2 is on a dream run at the domestic box office, as the film has passed the ‘Monday test’ with flying colours. ABCD 2 has shown excellent growth in business on Sunday, with net collections of around Rs 16.5 crore, as per early estimates based on collections from a few centres. The collections could even be higher and closer to the 17 crore mark, because some centres, especially in the Mumbai circuit, have shown phenomenal growth on Sunday. The 3D version of the film had very high occupancy throughout the day. The first weekend business is around the 45-46 crore mark, which is excellent for a film like ABCD 2. The collections are comparable to last year’s Ek Villain, a film that collected Rs 49 crore in its first weekend.

ABCD 2 has collected Rs 28.81 crore in 2 days at the box office, which is by far the highest 2-day collections of films released in 2015. The advance booking on Sunday too is excellent and the film should collect around 45-46 crore in its first weekend, which is excellent considering the budget and star cast of the Remo D’Souza directed film.

Varun Dhawan’s ABCD 2 has entered the all time list of highest opening day collections.  The film makes it to the 25th spot, ahead of old releases like ‘Housefull 2’ and ‘Talaash’. ABCD 2 is the first film of 2015 to make it to the list and by far the biggest opener of the year, with about 10% more collections than Akshay Kumar’s ‘Gabbar Is Back’.

Varun Dhawan has done it again. The presence of the most bankable star amongst the new generation of actors, has ensured that ABCD 2 has taken the best opening of the year so far. At most centres, the opening of ABCD 2 was better than Akshay Kumar’s Gabbar Is Back and the occupancy at multiplexes was better than a multiplex film like ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’.
