Varun Dhawan has done it again. The presence of the most bankable star amongst the new generation of actors, has ensured that ABCD 2 has taken the best opening of the year so far.
At most centres, the opening of ABCD 2 was better than Akshay Kumar’s Gabbar Is Back and the occupancy at multiplexes was better than a multiplex film like ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’.
The average occupancy in the morning was around 50-55%. In Mumbai city the opening was lower at around 40-45%, but that was only because of heavy rains in the city.
The opening was excellent in Mysore circuit, two cities like Bangalore and Mangalore have opened very well in the morning.
At major cities, the start is better than all Hindi films that have released so far this year, including the likes of Roy, Gabbar Is Back and Dil Dhadakne Do.
The first day business is almost certain to be above the 10 crore mark and there is a possibility that business could touch 15 crore, if the film picks up towards the end of the day.

Ranbir is most bankable among younger stars and most popular. Besharam & BV being bad films doesn’t change that. Also if opening is criteria then Sid has Ek Villain which was near 20cr last year….
Shraddha no.1 actress? She shouldn’t be as she’s average in acting and above average in looks. Sad to see star kids (varun, sid, ranveer, arjun, shraddha, sonakshi etc) who are average actors getting films over talented actors.
Pritam bad days are here , he was given work of BB and Dilwale , the first 2 songs of BB suck to the core
youth bunks school colleges and come on first show first day therefore opening is good but word of mouth and ramdan will hurt it in long run. Movie is front loaded affair

Way to go Varun, I didn’t seen abcd first part and not interested in abcd 2 but only due to varun I will watch when it aired on TV. This is second year in a row when varun dhawan movie release in Ramdan period, last year HSKD did fantastic business despite bring an average film and now abcd2 taken biggest opening of the year, if there is no rain in Mumbai than it will definitely have biggest opening day number as in Maharashtra these kind of film perform better still it will have top/second highest opening day figure.
I hope Varun will score hatrick of hit with this movie after hskd,badlapur. Any way he will have 5 successful films in a row begining of his career, soon be 6 when dilwale release.

Have been watching emraan hashmi movies back to back, started with kalyug,ek thi dayan,jannat,dil toh baccha hai ji,The Killer then awarapan, then jannat 2, then shangai and now finally hamari adhuri kahani!!!
Abcd2 deserves 2 flop if a great film like hak does below average business. Sure it had it’s flaws, but it was stil better than most films.
Im a huge fan of emraan hashmi suddenly noticed, after akshay, my favourite is emraan hashmi, followed by salman and then finally saif ali khan. From youngsters, favourite is ranbir and then varun. Varun was good in previous movies but this does not deserve any kind of collection to be honest.
And shame on reviewers who gave bad review to hamari adhuri kahani but will give good review to this and dil dhadkne do!
