ABCD 2 is on course to become Varun Dhawan’s first 100 crore grosser, as the film has shown excellent growth in business on its 2nd Saturday at the domestic box office.
Starting with Aamir Khan’s Ghajini in 2008, 36 films are now a part of the ‘100 crore club’. ABCD 2 is likely to be the 37th film overall and the 2nd film of 2015 (after Tanu Weds Manu Weds Returns).
Since the box office collections and the trend in the first week was very similar to ‘Ek Villain’, the two films make for a good comparison. ‘Ek Villain’ collected Rs 4.12 crore on its 2nd Friday and Rs 5.16 crore on its 2nd Saturday. In comparison, ABCD 2 has collected Rs 3.71 crore and 5.77 crore on 2nd Friday and Saturday respectively. While the collections are about the same, ABCD 2 has shown much better growth and also has the advantage of having an open run this week and the next couple of weeks.

Varun’s career is trending well. Rising not too fast but not slowly either. Very good!!
Varun is going through a dream run in his career till now . He has given till now 5 Back to Back Hits and Dilwale will be his 6th Back to Back Hit . But according to me his real phase will start in 2016 because Dhishoom and Shuddhi are important films in Varun’s Career . Shuddhi has been delayed very much and he will face the pressure of replacing Hrithik and Salman . Another important fact is that out of all his movies his performance was only appreciated in Badlapur . Even in Badlapur critics and audiences agreed that Nawaz completely overshadowed Varun . So i want to see a mature performance from him . I have not yet seen Badlapur and ABCD 2 .
