The expectations from Salman Khan’s Veer that releases next weekend, is neither too high nor too low, which is just about perfect for any film. Veer should also benefit from the curiosity around it, chartbusting music is missing but the songs (from the trailers) have been shot well and have a certain pleasing look to it.
Box office over the years, hasn’t been too kind to historicals, hence the opening weekend is very important for a film like Veer. Khan’s strong hold has always been single screens, but what remains to be seen is how Veer performs at the all important multiplexes, which should eventually decide the fate of this high budget epic.
Here’s our Veer Prediction
- Opening Weekend: 18 – 19 crores nett
- Opening Weekend if the film exceeds expectations: 22 crores nett
- Week 1: 28 crores nett
- Week 1 if liked: 30 – 32 crores nett
- Lifetime collections if poor: less than 40 crores nett
- Lifetime collections if mixed: 45 – 50 crores nett
- Lifetime collections if good: 60 – 70 crores nett

@Indicine Team: How much does Veer need to collect to become a hit? I think 55-60 crores Lifetime nett.Collection will give the film Hit Status and that’s what is more likely with this film as we haven’t been able to witness a single movie getting hit status after 3Idiots. Infact none of the movies could even get an average status at the box office. As 3 Idiots fever is still on and It is maintaining good collections at the boxoffice so the real competitor for Veer is still 3 Idiots. But I think 3 Idiots won’t hurt Veer’s collections to that extent that it has been doing with other movies released this month… So the people are hungry for a good movie with powerful performances and If Veer’s content is good, it should get a super hit status according to me….
Anyway Let’s hope for the best and see what happens with Veer?????

i liked Salman’s performance in Veer so i am praising his performance.
but it is also true that this movie cant reach till 200 cr. 3 idiots was exeptional and every movie cant be 3 I , Ghajini , Dhoom 2 , SIK , Welcome , HAHK ,
according to trade analysts Veer has power to get maximum 70 – 80 cr if movie is extra ordinary good, other wise if good 60 cr if normal avg 50 and poor then 40 cr .
even when DDD and Blue were releasing that time i was expecting maximum 70 – 80 cr .
we can favour our favorites but we have to face the facts as well.
and it is also true that salman lost his star power in last decade especially last 4,5 years, but he will come back so dont need to worry.

We know how biased film critics are. So here are our predictions of how two well known film critics will review Veer on television channels on Friday. Anupama Chopra ( Picture This in NDTV) will say it is a poorly made, tacky film and will run down Salman by dismissing his performance as less than mediocre. She is an out and out chamchi of Shah Rukh Khan and the Chopra/Karan Johar camp, by the way. The other anti-Salman critic – Kaveree Bamzai of India Today and Headlines Today- will say it is like a B-grade stunt film. She will slam Salman for hamming all the way, and say it is a poor performance. One still remembers how she played down Salman’s performance while reviewing Wanted. She rolled her eyes and said sarcastically: ” People liked Salman in the 1990’s, they liked him even in 2000’s. But this is 2009 ( meaning there are new stars now and therefore, they may not like him now and by implication. his film would flop)”. But she was proved wrong with the super success of Wanted which, in fact, emerged as the biggest hit of 2009 till Three Idiots came along!!! Luckily, the fate of films is not decided by what such so-called critics write or say. Anupama Chopra and Kaveree Bamzai are notoriously partial – for some unknown reason – to the Shah Rukh Khan-Yash Chopra-Karan Johar gang. Should such people be allowed to masquerade as film critics ?
