The expectations from Salman Khan’s Veer that releases next weekend, is neither too high nor too low, which is just about perfect for any film. Veer should also benefit from the curiosity around it, chartbusting music is missing but the songs (from the trailers) have been shot well and have a certain pleasing look to it.
Box office over the years, hasn’t been too kind to historicals, hence the opening weekend is very important for a film like Veer. Khan’s strong hold has always been single screens, but what remains to be seen is how Veer performs at the all important multiplexes, which should eventually decide the fate of this high budget epic.

- Opening Weekend: 18 – 19 crores nett
- Opening Weekend if the film exceeds expectations: 22 crores nett
- Week 1: 28 crores nett
- Week 1 if liked: 30 – 32 crores nett
- Lifetime collections if poor: less than 40 crores nett
- Lifetime collections if mixed: 45 – 50 crores nett

I know you always watch SRK movie with the same offer which u want for veer but i request to plz wait till 12 feb as this offer are only available for SRK movies so kindly have patience because after 12 feb u will denoted as patient of some of the hospital but not because of bad taste of lollipops but bad taste of cinema.

Why do people insist on bringing My Name is Khan into this? Two COMLPLETELY different films, aimed at COMPLETELY different audience. IMO this is how you know that Shahrukh Khan is the biggest actor of the lot, his name is mentioned everywhere even when he isnt involved in the film. People seem to discuss Amitabh Bachchan and SRK everywhere regardless of the actual point of discussion. IF YOU DONT LIKE SRK, THAT IS ABSOLUTELY FINE, AT LEAST STOP MEnTIONING HIS NAME THEN, then SRK wont be here to have people hate him, isn’t that right Salman Khan fans who insist on comparing Veer with My Name Is Khan. But i know that if SRK-Salman patch up, just watch as all Salman Khan fans start praising My Name is Khan….we live in such a nasty world.
As for me, both films have there plus points, Veer is a masala action adventure aimed at the masses, it hasnt lit up the charts with its music, the promos where distinctly average (typical Salman Khan dialogue). My Name Is Khan is a thought provoking drama/romance with a touch of 9/11, it is aimed at the masses aswell due to the SRK-Kajol reunion, but it is more intended for an educated audience. Again the promos (where good for me), i understand, many thought were average, the music too, like Veer, has not exactly lit up the charts.
I enjoy films where the content is good and where the main actors play there role very well. I will see both and enjoy both, like Aamir Khan said ” i have no interest in the numbers game” let us enjoy these two films when they release and leave it at that.
The film not to be missed: Kites (If you aint guessed im a Hritik Roshan fan).
Indicine, i agree with your box office prediction. Perhaps Veer may get a bigger opening, it is a masala film after all. More on the lines of 30 crore in first week, wether it reaches 70 or over will be based on content.
Note to all SRK fans: If you want to maintain you heros image i would stay well away from these forums, Indicine is Salmans fanbase, head to the various SRK fan websites (he has more than anyone else) or to Apunkachoice, come back if SRK-Salman patch up. Right now, Salman Khan fans are dissing My Name is Khan not because of the content, but becuase of the lead actor, naturally.

Da hype z extreme nd Vai z doing promoting his film extensively, nd u know, when salman vai promotes his film, wat dat film can do. Wanted z da perfect example of it. Wel i was in the multiplex of Hyderabad where SALMAN came on saturday.. It was extraodinary responce from the Junta.. So it looks VEER will work at the boxoffice..
