Veer Box office Opening

Salman Khan’s Veer has opened to a fantastic response at the box office and is currently on a record-breaking spree on single screens. Business is best in North, East and Central India and worst down South.

Single screen business is 90% on Day 1 while multiplexes have seen around 50-60% average through the day. Combined, Veer has managed to nett 7 crores on Day 1 all over India.

As the film is performing best at single screens, it would be unfair to compare Veer based on box office nett collections. Going by the distributors share, the Day 1 business of Veer is next only to Aamir Khan’s 3 Idiots and Ghajini.

Saturday too, the business is excellent at single screens and it would be very interesting to see how the film performs on its first crucial weekday. Tuesday, being a holiday (Republic day) should also boost the Week 1 collections.

If the trending is close to as good as Wanted, Veer should easily attain HIT status.

  • Veer is a super flop movie. I went with 2 friends on Monday evening to watch the movie in Mumbai theater. Only 12 people in the whole theater to watch Veer. It is a headache for me. I and my friends leave after interval. I know the movie theater owner and will ask him to return my and my friends money as we left before movie ended. Horrible movie with so many flaws in script.

Salman was not that good an actor from before, now he has proved his failure as a script writer as well. I should have listened to the critics and not gone to the movie. 500 rs. * 3 = Rs. 1500 wasted for watching 2 hrs of garbage. I will be giving a miss to all Salman fans unless he gets a good critical review and promo looks very interesting. he has done so many flops in last 4 years. Cant believe it. I was counting and as permy knowledge 16 flops in last 5-6 years

  • Wasim bhai, I know Salman has not been that gr8 an actor in the last 4-5 years leaving 1 or 2 cases. But as fans we should blindly support him and even if his movies are flop movies we should watch his movies in the theater and respect him like God.

After all thats what Salman fans like us have always been doing so why stop now. Lets keep on wasting money till Salman reaches the age of 80-85

  • Veer was an excellent movie. It is the best horror movie ever made. Even better than RGV’s Phoonk.

Kyaa Phoonk maara Salmaan ne, Veer kahaan se kahaan gira.

Guys if you are not a blind Salman fan and just a good bollywood fan. I would ask you to save money and donate some of it to Haiti.

Why donate it to a sadhela actor jiska acting uski pehli film se hi nautanki lag rahi hai. Kitna bakwaas actor hai. A third grade over rated actor.

Will be liked only by rickshaw wallahs, dudh wallahs and chai wallahs. This guy’s huge body compensates for the size of his brain.

MNIK looks a much better movie to me, even waiting for Houseful, Action Replay, Ra 1, Dhobi Ghat. There are many good upcoming films but one thing for sure.I will never again waste money in my life in buying anything related to Salman at least not in theaters or DVDs.

Seriously right from beginning, he has been a very over rated, insecure actor.

  • seriusly how can anybody like this movie?????its the worst crap ever made gangrenous .maggot infested thats how bad it is..and wishing that it earns for its makers????how can people make a wish like that with this zombieland??

  • Hey guts look what Taran has written…
The film has fared exceptionally well at single screens of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. However, the business at multiplexes was very poor. Friday was good [approx. Rs. 7 cr.], Saturday [approx. Rs. 5 cr.] saw a dip in business, while Sunday [approx. Rs. 7 cr.] was strong again. Given the fact that the share from single screens would be huge, the 3-day distributor’s share works out to approx. Rs. 11 cr. Monday witnessed a fall in collections, even at single screens. Tuesday being a holiday [26th January], the business should be strong again. But the real test will begin from Wednesday. The cost works out to Rs. 70 cr. and the film will have to perform for two solid weeks in India and Overseas to recover a big chunk of the investment

  • Veer Has Good First Weekend

    Monday 25th January 2010 12.00 IST

    Boxofficeindia.Com Trade Network

Veer has done good first weekend business of 19.50 crore nett thanks to bumper business in single screens. The film did 7 crore nett on Friday, Saturday saw a drop with 5.25 crore nett business and Sunday was good with 7.25 crore nett. Tuesday is Republic Day holiday so around 31-32 crore nett business can be expected over the first week.

Veer has got a big thumbs down from the critics and media but at the box office it has performed well till now. The film will emerge a hit in Rajasthan while circuits like Delhi/UP, Bihar, CP Berar and CI may also do hit business. Single screen business is huge in the Hindi belt.

The public has a mind of its own and even in a worst case scenario the film will emerge an average success with a 25 crore all India distributor share. Veer is the first success of 2010 and if it can sustain in its second weekend then it will emerge the first hit of 2010 with a 30 crore plus share.

  • Veer Is Dull In International Markets

    Tuesday 26th January 2010 09.00 IST
    Boxofficeindia.Com Trade Network

Veer is dull overseas with around 5 crore business in the the International markets. United Kingdom grossed 1.10 crore while North America was 1.50 crore. The response in Middle East and Pakistan is reportedly better. Overall the film will not be doing much business overseas.

Three Idiots is still bringing in the cash in its fifth week. The business is now $15.25 million dollars which is around 70 crore. North America should finish at around $6.5 million while United Kingdom around the £1.8 million.

  • Veer dropped on Monday as it recorded business in the 3-3.25 crore nett range. The drop is around 55% from Friday and Sunday collections.

The film has now taken its four day collections to just over 22.50 crore nett. Veer has been rejected by the metro multiplex audience as collections started on a low note and have not improved. Multiplexes outside metroes are okay but its single screen business that is really helping the film put up decent totals.

The film has a big advantage as it is Republic Day holiday today and a jump in business is expected which will help the film to a total of 31-32 crore nett for the first week.

  • Ok nw Indicine will increase 1-2cr in post..;) he he

Overseas is not 5cr but 4cr.
Monday its not 3.25 but less than 3cr

According to my reliable sources he he..;)

  • @amish ..I just copied 4m Box Office India.I think if its above 3 carore its done well.N tuesday is always an advantage.N weekend is around 21carores on most sources. So, so far 24 carores not bad if not great.

  • @Hina- tell me who gave above 21cr? even Indicine corrected their statement n said 20-21cr later.
So its around 20cr weekend, say 3cr monday and Overseas- 4cr

If Today movie doesnt make above 5cr der r very less chances for it to be even average.
In overseas movie will be called a flop no doubt but in India atleast if it has to survive 30cr+ week 1 is imp.

  • @amish ..Producer Pratc has confirmed 21.4 carores on facebook.I heard on Aaj tak News 20 carores. So no matter what its atleast more than 23 carore so far.Yes u r rite it has to be around 5 carores today 4 survival.
