Most successful Bollywood Actors: 2010 – 2015

Following up on yesterday’s ‘Most Successful Actors between 2000 and 2009‘, we have the list of actors that were most successful in the current decade. 2016 releases haven’t been included while calculating the figures because a lot of big stars like Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Aamir Khan, Varun Dhawan and Ranveer Singh haven’t had a release so far this year.

The analysis does have quite a few surprises! Read on..

  • Arjun Kapoor - 54.8 crore
  • Emraan Hashmi – 39.7 crore
  • Shahid Kapoor – 33.4 crore

Success Ratio i.e Above Average or better  (probably the most important, because it’s the percentage of films that recovered investment)

  • Shah Rukh Khan - 100%
  • Varun Dhawan – 100%
  • Salman Khan – 90%
  • Aamir Khan – 75%
  • Hrithik Roshan – 67%
  • Ranbir Kapoor – 50%
  • Arjun Kapoor – 50%
  • Sidharth Malhotra – 50%
  • Ranveer Singh - 50%

  • Ranbir Kapoor – 50%
  • Arjun Kapoor – 50%
  • Sidharth Malhotra – 50%
  • Ranveer Singh - 50%
  • Ajay Devgn – 39%
  • Emraan Hashmi - 36%
  • Akshay Kumar – 33%
  • Shahid Kapoor – 20%

Blockbuster Ratio (this was worth pointing out, simply because the difference between actors is huge!)

  • Salman Khan – 70%
  • Aamir Khan – 50%
  • Ranbir Kapoor – 25%
  • Hrithik Roshan – 17%
  • Shah Rukh Khan – 14%
  • Emraan Hashmi – 14%
  • Ajay Devgn – 11%
  • Akshay Kumar – 5%

In conclusion, it’s quite clear that the decade so far has belonged to Salman Khan. Veer had to be included in the list because it released after 2010 and that hurt his success ratio. Apart from that, Jai Ho missed out on a ‘hit’ verdict. Those two films aside, he hasn’t put a foot wrong. Salman has a 70% blockbuster ratio i.e 7 out of his 10 films were blockbusters or better. This record, in itself, is better than every other stat that we’ve mentioned and we had to include it simply because no other actor has probably achieved it before. It’s hard to describe how huge it is, because his blockbuster count is almost the same as all other actors combined! His 10 films have also collected about 200 crore more than Akshay Kumar’s 21 films!

Shah Rukh Khan is the biggest surprise here. Between 2010 and 2015, he hasn’t had a film that has been completely rejected. No film has failed to cross the 200 crore worldwide mark either (of course, Fan hasn’t, but that film was this year). He and Varun Dhawan are the only actors with a 100% success ratio. Shah Rukh’s hit ratio is the highest too, not too bad for a man who’s supposedly going through a career low?! It’ll be interesting to see how the next 5 years pan out for him.

Aamir Khan missed out with Dhobi Ghat and Talaash, but hit the ball out of the park with Dhoom 3 and PK. He does very few films, but those few have worked big. Ajay Devgn’s box office performance was much improved as compared to the previous decade, quite a few of his films have done well.

Hrithik has been consistent, good success ratio, great average per film.. Kites and Guzaarish were his big failures. He needs to up the ante a bit and do more films.

Akshay Kumar tops the ‘number of films’ list once again, he’s easily been the most prolific. His average, which was in the mid-70s until the end of 2015, has also improved with his two releases in 2016. His choice of films is making a difference at the ticket window.

The younger stars like Varun, Arjun, Sidharth, Ranbir and Ranveer have had great starts to their career. Their success ratio is very high compared to the first few years of actors who made their debuts in the 90s. It shows that they take each of their films very seriously. Special mention for Varun, he’s been terrific. The very fact that a film like ‘Dilwale’ has been his biggest box office disappointment, says a lot about his career so far. ‘Dishoom’ will be a test.

Emraan hasn’t had a bad decade, he was doing well in the beginning, but has faltered in the last 3-4 years. Shahid has been very poor, way too many failures against his name.

  • @tiger the real chuhe- Also count Lallu’s flops and DISASTERS and overseas blockbusters. Ooops, Lallu has overseas blockbusters? Only 3!!! And you are blabbering about BB. Whereas King Khan has 23 overseas blockbusters. King Khan>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Lallu.

  • Hahaha look at Amir fans. They agreed statistic of 2000 decade despite Amir was half successful (6 hit plus) compare srk’s (12 hit plus and 5 of them were blockbuster) only because success ratio was little higher due half no of films.
Dhobi ghat was Amir movie. It was never average or semi hit. Though movie budget was 4 cr what about print publicity cost and most important Amir’s fee.
Sky indicine has proved ra1 economic many time. Cost was 115 after subsidy from UK government. Producer sold world wide distribution rights for 77 cr and remaing cost recovered from merchandise, satellite music rights which give good for producers and distributor has earn very good profit too India share 64 plus overseas share 25 cr approx. if u understand this economics then ok

  • @indicine i’ve doubt Akki’s movies collections is 1475 cr in 21movies an average is 77.6 ?

    1475÷21=70.23

    Please clear my doubt

  • @Dynamic retarded. Hahaha. How fool you are.
Last decade srk had his best phase of his career. And on that decade Aamir top the success ratio, hit ratio and net collection list. I think you haven’t seen that Idiot. Regarding acting I don’t think you even know about acting. Srk good in negative character no doubt but where his negative shades movie going success post darr. None were remember for their bo performance.
    Anjaam
    Raam Jane
    Duplicate
    Don
    Don 2
    Fan.
except Don series none were hit. Even Don series underperformed just a hit with earlier a remake and other is sequal.
Aamir tried two negative characters than Fanaa and D3 and both were turned out his biggest career grosser when released.
Ab Dangal Ka kamaal dekhna ullu.

  • Indicine already included billu in srk list
Indicine there is no need blockbuster ratio instead it should be have flop ratio which indicate stardom of star. If actor got really stardom then he can save even flop movie on his sheer stardom. There is no two way about salman stardom post 2010 that’s he saved jai ho from flop but same thing can’t say about in 90s and 2000 blockbuster ratio can’t decide stardom because it need good accepted content or entertaining movie post initial weekend.

  • @sht Ra 1 created lost for distributes just like Dilwale did. Both were profit makers for SRK as a producer but not recovered amounts on distributer point of view. The condition of Dilwale and Ra1 were preety similar where Dilwale bo share was better in overseas business. One is semi hit and other is hit.
Wow. Second thing Indicine declared Dhobhi ghat as semi hit in their articles of 2012-2013 period and now they treated that film a failure. At least stick with one verdict. That’s All.

  • @devgun: salute bro….whoever tops. I dont care…in acting talent all r below ajay sir…ajay sir has excelled in variety of roles which no other actor has done…Diwale-mental role(awesome)..dewangee- split brain role(awesome)..main hoon na-mentally challenged role….diljale-terrorist role…singham,gangajal-police role..pyar tho hona hi tha-romantic hero role…zakhm- intense role…legend of bhaghat sign-patroitic role..company,khakhi and ouatim-negative don role..golmaal series,Atb-comedy role…hddcs-innocent and honest husband role…ajay sir gave top notch performances in all these roles whic no other actor excelled…

  • @Sky
    very correctly pointed out bro…
Inducing themselves can’t stick wid their one verdict & point fingers on D credibility of other sites & when their readers point out der mistakes dey behave in an arrogant way..same as der idol srk…
I doubt dat even dey will allow my comment or not..
anyways truth is dat aamir has 100% success ratio..u include dhobi ghat or not..although in my opinion it wasn’t aamir’s film..
@indicine …guys jst an advice..it’s not a sin to make mistakes Bt being arrogant even wen u r wrong is bad…accept ur mistakes n keep moving n u will be winning more hearts of ur readers… :-)

  • @Bollywood fan: u moron…manoj has not given blockbusters like ajay sir…no actor faced criticism the way ajay did becoz of his colour..in 1991 90percent of Bollywood were against him for becoming hero…even yash johar and many directors producers criticised that nobody will go2 watch his movies and he cant b hero…and this is racist criticism …then also by his shear acting talent and confidence he made it big in Bollywood from 1991-2016 n still going on thats Ajay sir for u…

  • Mighty impressive efforts from Indicine to save haklu’s sinking titanic…
This is what happened through out haklu’s career he was under the wings of big banners and media support…

Not just this decade but right from debut Bhaijaan is SULTAN Of Bollywood…

  • @sky I already said how distributor acquired worldwide (not just domestic) rights of ra1 on 77 cr. and worldwide Dist share is 85-90 cr against 77 cr. maybe small subdistributor lost few lacks that was the case of every movie be it gajini, kick, sik, HNY, k3 etc. last 8 years only rabne bana di Jodi, 3 idiot BB ce D3 and pk yielded profit for every chain.

Regarding dilwale as a semi hit it lost for distributors of mejor terrirtory like Mumbai which sold for huge price and srk has even compensate half of price later. Deal was not similar to like ra1 as a worldwide rights.
Again u are fooling urself calling Amir as a big star in last decade when already proved in on other article. How can be net collection is same for 2 movies of similar status which released 10 years apart. By your logic dilwale has more collection than gajini. I asked indicine to show adjusted net collection or should include that criteria. For your record
K3g = 3 idiots (little higher in terms of collection)
    Mohbbate > gajini
    Devdas > Lagan
    Oso > fanaa
    Rbdj > Rdb
    Cdi > tare zami par
    Khnh
    Mhn
    Don
    Kank
    Vz
    CC
    Josh
    Hths

    2010 decade

    Ce < pk
    HNY talash
    Fan> dhobi ghat
    Jthj
    Ra1
    Don2

Above comparison are pure base on stardom don’t bring ur logic as which movie will remember how long. We can discuss this on separate issue.

  • India’s biggest star SALMAN KHAN, KICK-COPY, DABANGG-COPY, WANTED-COPY, BODYGURD-COPY, etc.. so our biggest star is a copy star

  • @indicine,now WE wanted MOST SUCCESSFUL FROM 1990-2000 OR 1990-2015.

    HOGTY

KING SRK—-5 IN 24 YEARS>>>>>>>>>>>>salman 6 (hssh is mtistarrer,no entry is not a salman film) in 27 years.

    FROM 1990-2016

MOST BLOCKBUSTERS—-salman (11) in 27 years,3 among south remake mostly masala genre>KING SRK (10) IN JUST 24 YEARS mostly classics

    MOST HITS/SEMI HITS—KING SRK (33)>>>>>>>>>salman (23)>>>>>>>>>>akshay kumar (19)>>>>>ajay (14)

    MOST FLOPS RATIO—akshay kumar>>>>salman khan>>>>>ajay devgan>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>amir khan(16 out of 39)>>>>>>>KING SRK(19 out of 56).

    Most disasters—-ajay devgan>>>>>>>>>>akshay kumar>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>salman khan>>>>>>>>>amir khan

Basically the comparison is in between KING SRK and salman.

    KING SRK—-10 BBS(MOST CLASSIC)+0 DISASTERS IN 24 YEARS>>>>>>>>>>>>>salman—-11 BBS(most classless masala/remakes)+7/3 disasters in 27 years of career.

So again KING SRK>>>>>>>>salman (according to his own FAN’S logic)

AND IF WE COUNT SUCCESS RATIO

salman nowhere near THE KING OF BOLLYWOOD.HENCE PROVED.

    salman—-decade struggler of 2000-2009

    Amir—-decade struggler of 1991-2000

    Ajay,akshay—-all time all decade
    struggler

KING SRK—-ALL TIME ALL DECADE RULER

    HENCE IT’S PROVED

MEGASTAR,MEGALEGEND KING SRK RULES BOLLYWOOD SINCE 1992-FOREVER.

@tiger,a star whose flops (46)>>>>>>>>>>>>>is more than double of his hits (23) can be call even a big star.ha ha ha ha south remake power.still I can say bhai will take 10 more birth to attain KING OF BOLLYWOOD’S SUCCESS,ROFL.

  • @sky,wow only you only can compare pretty mediocre fanaa and worst performance of a time—-dhoom3,rofl.

At you still claiming dhoom3 is a negative character movie.it’s biggest bean not only that the character is hero role in the name of villain by critics which people thinks the character as hero.

Till now amir have to proof a single movie with ever remembereable negative role.

Even Duplicate’s role too strings compared to games, forget EPIC CLASSICS LIKE DON,DON2.

And no doubt you’ll not stop ever to talk like salman fans and only will rant about box office success only.

But you never even want to accept that DON,DON2 are not masala movies like BIGB’S one in 90’s nor it”s a deal rangerangeovie still successful ,the former one with a big clash and the later one survived with negativity of Ra One in a msala genre era.

If so I can say KING SRK DID best comedy roles than amir.

Why because HIS CE collected far more than amir’s non famous comedy movies like rangeela, aaa, now admit that too if you have care and want to accept the truth according to your own logic.

And after CARE no negative role of KING KHAN is famous.then what is BAAZIGAR ullu?????Even FAN praised equally by all critics as well as mainly audience.which the samewho criticized both fanaa,dhoom3.

Talk with sense dude, don’t behave like illogical bhaitards. And stop being jealous of KING KHAN at least for a day.

Because your hate will never change HIS POSITION as HE’LL remain the highest best performance giving actor of the generation.no one can’t change that.

And yeah best of luck for dangal and hopefully it’ll be huge success not only in terms of box office and looks that amir is constantly doing in this decade but also by performance.hopefully it’ll not be like anyone wasted performance like on compared to Hauser, though till now BEST PERFORMANCE HELD BY FAN,let’s see whether amir can beat it or not, rofl.

  • good article. but how ranveer has 50% hit ratio? out of 8 films he has only 2 clear hits which are ramleela and bajirao mastani. he is the most hyped star ever! he is talented, good actor but i feel he’s overrated af. shahid kapoor is underrated. he is better than ranveer singh. and aksahy is really good in these days. giving some quality movies.

  • we all must admit amir khan was the main protagonist in dhobi ghat and had a full fledged role in this horrible movie directed by his wife !…a forgettable FLOP !

  • No offense. But everyone will believe that the remakes or non-remakes Salman did Ready, Bodyguard, Ek tha tiger, Kick(it was a bit good), PRDP, etc were CRAPPP

  • 2016 belongs to akshay Kumar
After watching Rustom Trailor it gonna we third 100 crore +
    Super Hit…we love Akki

  • @Sht:

Why shouldn’t have #indicine included Blockbusters & blockbusters ratio??? It seems you loongiwalas think that tiny hits are bigger success than blockbusters…. LOL!!

  • @phenominal idiot:

In previous decade, Bhai had 1 blockbuster while your Eid sodke bhagnewala had 4blockbusters. But in this decade Bhai has 7 blockbusters while your global BH**** has only 1 blockbuster. Smell the difference you dumbistani!!!

  • I love
    AMIR KHAN
    SALMAN KHAN
    SAHARUK KHAN
    3 guy heart of bollywood…………..
    No body touch him……….

  • @SSS

Mechanic sorry for interrupting your mindless story telling comment. You must be the biggest fool if you say Ajay has 14 hits and semi hits in his career!! He has 21 clean hits you fool. Forget Semi hits…while Akshay with Airlift and H3 now has 23 clean hits.

The most interesting Hit of Ajay I enjoyed was when He clashed with Yash ji in 1991 and bankrupted Lamhe (Yashji most cherish movie he once admitted) another hit I enjoyed was when he clashed again with Legendary Yash ji again 4 years back..!

  • @tiger the great sultan fan why don’t u asked yesterday where Bhai has 0 blockbuster ratio.
Indicine make list for without festival movies
