The Advance Booking of My Name Is Khan was temporarily closed on Wednesday due to protests from Shiv Sena. But has now been restarted again, at all multiplexes in Mumbai, from Wednesday evening.
The Shiv Sena though has vowed to disrupt the screenings even as the government has taken complete responsibility for a smooth release of the SRK starrer.

My Name is Khan has recorded over 80 per cent booking for the opening weekend, despite a Shiv Sena threat to the Shah Rukh Khan-Kajol starrer forcing theatres to suspend ticket sales in Maharashtra and capital Mumbai today.
Multiplex owners say the bookings, which opened today, are better than 3 Idiots’. “The advance bookings are 20 per cent higher than the Aamir Khan starrer,” said sources in the industry. In metros like Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad, the bookings are between 60 and 80 per cent. In small towns, 60-70 per cent of its tickets are sold. The film will be released on Friday.
Maharashtra contributes 25 per cent to box office collections, in which Mumbai’s share is almost 15 per cent.
“The film will lose almost Rs 10 crore in the first three days from Mumbai and Maharashtra,” said Komal Nahata, trade analyst. Fox Star Studios has bought the rights of the Karan Johar production for Rs 100 crore. Experts say even if the film gets lukewarm response in Mumbai, Fox Star can claim insurance. Fox Star plans to release over 1,200 prints in India, of which 300 will be in Maharashtra (65 in Mumbai).
Meanwhile, police have cancelled leave of their Mumbai personnel to ensure protection to the 63-odd theatres scheduled to screen the SRK film. They have also detained over 1,200 Sena members as preventive measure. Constables have been asked not to let viewers carry bags, frisk every ticket holder and check their identity cards. Chief Minister Ashok Chavan said the Sena-Shah Rukh Khan controversy should be resolved by “mutual understanding”.
SRK fans rejoice, however to me a neutral person, who is neither pro or anti-srk, this proves what i already knew, that SRK is the “King of hype”, now the job for him is to sustain, he has yet to do this and THAT is his biggest challenge.

80 % booking is a lie planted in Business Standard to stop people from saying the film is a flop!!!! The truth is that nobody will buy tickets in advance and the film will incur huge losses. Johar and SRK will then tom tom about how the film is a hit overseas, which has been their usual trick all these years. Who bothers about overseas – that too NRI audiences? The real test is the domestic market which is bigger than all the overseas markets put together.

I am great fan of Salman bhai. SRK and Salman bhai are having cold war since a period. But the way Salman spoke and supported for MNIK release in Maharastra is appreciable. I don’t know why the heck the Shiva Sena has that problem, they should act like a political party not like a brat and troublemaker. They are more like a rabble rouser now. Do your business, don’t play politics in Bollywood. Bollywood gives millions of dollars every year as entertainment tax.

Shahrukh Khan’s film My Name is Khan is akin to controversy. First, it was the Shiv Sena, who threatened to ban the film, then joined the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and now Orissa unit of the Bajrang Dal.
Orissa unit of the Bajrang Dal has threatened to disrupt the screening of My Name is Khan in the state if Shahrukh fails to offer apology for supporting the inclusion of the Pakistani cricketers in the IPL.
Subash Chouhan, national co-convenor of the Bajrang Dal, said that they would not allow the screening of My Name is Khan in the state unless Shahrukh apologise for his comments. He added that the actor acted like an agent to Pakistan by raising his voice for the cause of its cricketers.

After 3rd auction of IPL he said that I couldn’t select Pakistani Cricketers coz I had only place in my team n that is ful-filled by Shane Bond.After few days he says I would like to see Pakistani Players playig in IPL.If dat is the case my question y didn’t u selet them in the auction?Why didnt u speak up when Pakistani cricketers were boycotted in 2nd edition of IPL?why didnt u speak up when kamran akmal n sohail tanvir were sent back to Pakistan after 26\11 ?Why didnt u speak up when every country was playing Champions league except Pakistan’s Sialkot Stallions?Why didn’t u speak when Pakistani players were not given proper chance in 1st editon?

” My name is khan and I am not a terrorist” it shows that movie is about terrorism. Oh My God another terrorism movie. In recent last 3, 4 years bollywood made so many movies about terrorism and some movies worked and some movies declared flop. Now a days 9/11 issue is best issue if you are interested to make a terrorism movie instead of Hindu Muslim fight. Last couple of years we watched 3 movies about 9/11 issue. Khuda Ke Liye, New York and Kurbaan.
Shahrukh is back with his best friend Karan Johar with the same issue which Karan highlighted in Kurbaan. People are thinking that it is similar to Kurbaan and New York. I will say only one thing that there is only one resemblance between Kurbaan and My Name Is Khan which is Karan Johar.
Now people are really tired of post 9/11 subject. Does it go against MNIK? But we watch every year lots of same type of love stories, comedies and action. And if movie is good it will work, doesn’t matter subject is outdated or fresh.

he already clarified on why he did not pick Abdul Razzaq, he was injured, i believe this was also the reason why he was not picked for the current Pakistan squad touring Australia and New Zealand. As a matter of fact, the actor even clarified his staements on NDTV, why should any right minded indian generalise a whole country based on 10% of its population. Dont want to be nasty, but there are radical idiots that live in your country, the taliban is everywhere, but I believe that it is those 10% that deserves to to be shot and bombed, the other 90% of pakistan (which im sure youre part of) are like any other people in the world, peace loving and wanting to lead a normal, terrorism free life. Srk was trying to get this across. However i will agree with you on 1 point, he is after all a bussinessman and his comments, even if they are his beliefs, have come at a time when it is hard not think that he is targetting a muslim population for the promotion of his film.
ps. Its a shame that Pakistan cricket players dont share your beliefs about playing in India, i believe Mr Afridi had the water works on after his IPL snub, well thats the impression i got from Indian media!
