SRK’s My Name Is Khan, which has opened to a fantastic response all over the country, has now opened across all multiplexes in Mumbai according to NDTV, a popular television news channels.
The Shiv Sena threat, which helped create enough hype – not to mention free publicity across all television channels, seems to have only worked in favor of the Karan Johar directed film.
With Rave reviews and positive word-of-mouth, MNIK is expected to shatter box-office records over the weekend.

My Name Is Khan grossed an excellent 8 crore nett on day one as per early estimates. The film lost around 2.25 crore nett business on day one due to the problems in Maharashtra and a couple of other places where it was unable to get a clean release. The biggest losses were in Mumbai where it managed to release in just 50% of the theatres that were scheduled to release the film.
Pune was another big casualty where it was not released at all. The first day losses from Mumbai and Pune are in the 1.50 crore nett region. A clean release would have given the film over 10 crore nett business on day one which would have made it the second biggest first Friday in history of Hindi cinema.
The film has excellent business in Delhi/UP, East Punjab, West Bengal and South while Rajasthan is good and CP Berar, CI and Bihar just decent. Mumbai is also excellent wherever released but overall business in the circuit is not high as it is not running all over the circuit. Delhi/UP business is over 2 crore nett while Mumbai is under 2 crore nett and normally Mumbai is nearly double of Delhi/UP.

Mangalore, Feb 13: The Karnataka bandh called by Sri Rama Sene (SRS), in protest against the attack on SRS Supremo, Pramod Mutalik, on Saturday February 13, is turning violent in some places of the state. In Mangalore and Udupi districts, the policemen have been keeping a strict vigil, in an attempt to minimize damages.
In the early hours on Saturday, the house of former Central Minister, Oscar Fernandes, was attacked, allegedly by the Sri Rama Sene activists, damaging the window glasses in the bargain. No one was at home during this attack. Simultaneous attack was also carried out on the residence of former state minister, Vasant V Salian’s house at Kaup. A Scorpio van and window panes of the house were damaged due to stone pelting in this case.
Since the time an attack on Mutalik in Bangalore was carried out, allegedly by the Youth Congress leaders, SRS members have been targetting Congress Party offices, houses of their leaders, statues etc., at different parts of the state. The miscreants also have been targetting public transport at several places, including Udupi and Mangalore. At least ten buses were damaged in Udupi, Kulur, Kavoor, and other places around Mangalore.

Shree Ramsene gives bandh call in Karnataka on Saturday, police steps up vigil
Bangalore, February 13: The BJP government in Karnataka on Friday put police on high alert ahead of Valentine’s Day to counter the threat by right-wing outfit Shri Rama Sene to disrupt the celebrations.
The Rama Sene also gave a call for a Karnataka Bandh on Saturday to protest against the attack on its founder Pramod Mutalik allegedly by Youth Congress activists here on Thursday.
As parts of Karnataka witnessed protests from Sene activists over blackening of the face of Mutalik at a debate organised by a local TV channel in an open air theatre, police took at least 100 Sene workers into preventive custody.
Gearing up to meet the situation, Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa chaired a high-level Home Department meeting and directed police to take strict action against trouble makers.
The attack on Mutalik witnessed a retaliatory action by Sene men, who allegedly placed a garland of slippers around the statue of veteran Congress leader late K H Patil in Hulikote in Gadag district, sparking tension.
Police resorted to lathicharge to disperse irate Congress workers who went on a rampage, torched six buses and a police jeep at Hulikoti.
Four Congress workers and 20 Sene men have been arrested in this connection and prohibitory orders clamped till Sunday.
The bandh call given by Sene in Mangalore on Friday failed to evoke a good response, but sporadic incidents of stone pelting has been reported, police said.
At least 25 Sene activists were arrested in Mangalore after they pelted stones on 10 buses, police said.

I just watched the My Name Is Khan , I would rate it 4.5 , because it is very good movie but not the perfect movie.
Story is good and gives a strong message but not much of interest.
The aspect which makes movie good to wacth is SRK.
His acting is eye catching and enjoyble.
I wouldn’t do much praise of mnik . But it is worth a watch .
I predicted 20 crore for the first day but it could have grossed 10 crores (actual 8 crores) .
i predicted 300 crores liftime , so i think this could have changed to near 140 to 160 crores in india.

Is Congress party and the TV channels the PR agents of Karan Johar and Shah Rukh Khan ?!!! It seems so going by the ludicrous coverage of the opening of MNIK yesterday. While the TV channels and critics went gaga over the so-called “thumbs up for SRK and flop for Shiv Sena”, some central ministers and Maharashtra CM went to the ludicrous lengths of asking the public to see the movie!!!! Ms Ambika Soni, Minister of I & B Minister, goes to the absurd length of saying it represents the “national view”. Whose national view – of a few critics and some multiplex going people who are interviewed on TV channels like NDTV and take part as invited audience in engineered TV discussions?? Will the Congress show similar response by deploying police force on a same scale for any other actor faced in a similar situation?? The answer is no, because it is the so-called proximity of SRK to Rahul Gandhi which is the reason behind the state machinery being placed at the disposal of M/S Johar and SRK so that they can make some money and so that they do not get saddled with another flop after duds like Kurbaan, Billu and Dulha Mil Gaya as they simply cannot afford another flop. This nexus needs to be completely exposed. The Truth is that the word of mouth about the film is not good at all as far as the aam junta is concerned. There is certaingly no way that it can beat the opening day collections of 3 Idiots or Ghajini which was the aim behind this whole engineered brouhaha. Already, to deflect attention from its uncertain fate, Johar/SRK have started talking about how they are walking the red carpet in Berlin (what Berlin)!!! when producer sold his movie to distributer then all business of movies goes to distributer. and mostly indian distributer and overseas distributors are different. And all movies make for indian audience , if a movie didnt work in india it declare flop doesn’t matter it got 50 cr overseas.
about MNIK Fox is distributer for world wide so at this time they can include overseas collections as well , but it needs good business in india as well, which is minimum 70 cr for hit status and for clean hit it needs 75 cr with near to 44 cr DS.

my expectation was 10 cr but due to shiv sena issue none of any oen could predict , 8 cr seems good if condition will settle down it will get 10 , 11 cr over se the weekend and it can close 50-52 1st week.
