Nothing against Shahrukh Khan or Karan Johar here. But watching every news channel and newspaper give My Name Is Khan national importance, is hard to digest. Even now with the film having released across all multiplexes in India, the topic of discussion and debate continues to be the film.
Surely there are bigger problems in the country, that deserve more coverage and importance, don’t you think?
Also would other actors get the same backing from the media, the government and not to mention the industry, as MNIK has?
1) When Aamir Khan’s Fanna was banned in Gujarat, not many stood up for the actor, least the media. The producers (Yashraj) lost a lot of money.
2) Hrithik Roshan’s last film Jodha Akbar too was banned in Rajasthan, later in Madhya Pradesh and eventually in UP. Where was the government, the media? Why wasn’t the same security and assurance provided to the film and its makers? The film lost 6 – 8 crores, no less.
All we are trying to say here is, irrespective of how big / small the film is, irrespective of who the lead star is, every film that is passed by the censor board should witness a smooth release all over.
Zahirul: you’re a damn hater.. you’re here just want to say anthing bad about Shahrukh and his movies.. I remember your old comments.. you just hate Shahrukh.. and when u “hate” someone u would never enjoy his movies even if he gives the audience the best.. because u don’t like to see him on the screen.. so why do u guys..the haters.. watch his movies?!!! Even if he gives the best in his acting.. your eyes will be “always” on the negative sides.. your eyes will be searching in anything negative and you’ll forget all the positive in the movie and in his acting.. and that’s because u never see any positive sides of someone which u hate.. but ppl who just love him, adore him.. they see everything he does as beautiful.

Sorry, Fathiya I think u do not have the taste to compare between good or bad, If a work is good then everybody can understand, Such as I like SRK in Chakde India. He was at his best on that but In MNIK he is very poor.

hey guys this is my first post here,i hv been following this site and the user comments for some time now and im happy to see reactions of people specially on this topic. As I hv been saying this frm day 1 of this controversy that it was just a political gimmick by srk to get free publicity for his film.No wonder till now it has worked well for srk as mnik got bumper openning but im sure it will not turn too well in the future coz the word of mouth for this film is negative. So it will be a challenge for the movie to sustain its houseful tag as mentioned by the media all over…i really think srk shud work seriously on his projects rather than playing dirty games like buying critics..coz no matter how much critics go gaga over him at the end its the audience who are the deciding factor…I watched mnik yesterday with my friends and well we all feel like we’ve wasted our time and money to watch this crap. hi guys first of all i m too a salman khan fan and i m really happy too see the kind of support u guys have for him, and that has provoked me to join in and be with u guys to support him.coz it is a fact that media and critcs have been unfair to him. Veer is one of salmans best work though the movie cud hv been better. veer was not an exceptional movie i accept it but it was not as bad as it was made out to be by these bunch of people. Whts more annoying is that same bunch of people r going crazy over mnik which is strictly an ok film… and i think there is some connection with veer getting all the negative reviews and at the same mnik getting highly positive reviews more than it actually deserves.
And if the above stats posted by u guys r true then it’s the begining of the downfall of mnik n cheers to that…..

After watching MNIK yesterday I’d say: yeah.. it’s worth the media coverage, and it’s a movie which everyone should watch.. no one should miss the movie.. do u know how much muslim ppl suffered in this world after 9/11? I think u saw the movie New York and what happened to muslim ppl.. I think u r aware that muslim ppl suffered in US and everywhere post 9/11 coz western ppl already didn’t respect Arab and muslims but after 9/11 it became worst.. many ppl died, many innocent ppl were torturned, many covered ladies, wearing veils were humiliated many ppl were accused of crimes which they didn’t commit.. so.. My Name is Khan came to show everyone in this world that good and bad ppl are everywhere..in every nationality, in every religion.. u r a hindu, I’m a muslim, my friend is a christian, etc.. and we (all) could be good or bad ppl, nothing to do with the religion.. that’s the great message in the movie My Name is Khan for everyone, for all US people, and it is a completey different movie than New York and Kurban.
It’s a very nice movie.. and we all, a group of 7 ppl, watched it yesterday and enjoyed it ( and many of us r planning to see it again) and it deserves the oscar award more than Slumdog Millionaire because of the great performance by Shahrukh and the great message for US people, a good script by a good director.
Glad you liked it Fathiya. Completely agree with your review. The scene where Rizwan’s mother explains (drawing the stick and lollipop) the difference between good and bad people, has to be one of the best scenes in the film.

Two of my couligues who both are great srk fan (one even mentioned before watching movie that if srk is there we can even tolerate boring movie) watched this movie yesterday and came out hugely disappointed. One of them mentioned that many people leave the theatre when about 25% of the movie was remaining. He himself was loitering about for purchasing popcorn during running movie just to kill boredom. Another couligue who is even a bigger srk fan mentioned that whosoever written this movie as crushing bore is absolutely correct. He was literally beating his head through out the movie. He even mentioned that srk should thank to shiv sena for good opening.
No offence to srk fan but whatever reactions I could get till now, it appears that film lacks entertainment value and this is the major reason behind dropping of this film.
Even media who has done some kind of advertisement for this film has slowly started accepted the fact. In one of the leading hindi daily, navbharat times, it is mentioned that some of the trde analysists have even gone to the extent of saying that srk should give one fourth of mnik’s weekend collection to shiv sena which made this otherwise cold film hot.
Yes Indicine.. that’s a very good scene in the movie.. and please change the “yellow” background of yr website.. Shahrukh won’t like it..it will irritate him.. haha!!

Slumdog Millionaire which won 8 oscar awards was a blockbuster overseas, in US, Europe, Everywhere, and everyone liked the movie (except the indian audience!!) why not? you’re all lovers of the movie JTYJN, a super duper hit movie in India as well as Wanted for Salman Khan, and many crap movies!!
I’ve read on masala website that MNIK is the biggest hit in Europe & US now ( and in addition wl be in Gulf Arabia for sure..it will do well because ppl love Shahrukh)

MNIK – 36 Crore in 5 Days
MNIK did pretty well on Tuesday with around 3.75 Crore. This is just 17% drop from Monday. Five days total stands at approx. 36 Crore. First week is heading for 42 Crore. Total capacity of MNIK for first week was around 90 Crore, 42 Crore collection is just 46% occupancy. Considering biggest hype ever for any movie in last 10 years, 46% collections in first week is plain average. Second week will play key role for final verdict of movie.
On surface level, it look like MNIK has dropped, but movie is sustaining well at centers like Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Noida and Gurgaon. If MNIK holds well in second week at these centers at least, there are chances of recovery of huge cost associated

I saw FG many times, since it was released, I saw it also last week, a great movie with a great performance by Tom Hanks, but it’s a completely different subject!! Now if Shahrukh is ill with “what they call it” otisem.. I’m not sure about the spelling of this word, and his acting is a bit similar to Tom Hanks in the movie, that dosn’t mean it’s a copy of FG!!
Forrest Gump was about a dumbo man who was in love with a prostitute, who used to be his childhood’s friend and always used to tell him: Forrest. .run.. never try to be brave.. just run.. and when he grows up, he joins the army, he could never change his opinion about her or see her from any different angles, a funny movie, a story about a naive person.. but.. is MNIK giving us the same story? No ofcourse.. MNIK is about humanity and ppl who suffered post 9/11.. so how can u guys compare this movie with Forrest Gump?
And fyi.. I read a few months ago, in masala weekly that Aamir Khan is planning to make the movie Forrest Gump in hindi
