Shah Rukh Khan’s FAN has flopped at the domestic box office, as the film has dropped by 5% on a holiday for ‘Mahavir Jayanti’. It was clear from the trend over the first weekend itself, that the drop over the weekdays was inevitable. But there was hope that FAN would sustain to reasonably good levels on Monday and then show decent growth on Tuesday (partial holiday). Both of those expectations weren’t met and the film crashed both on Monday and Tuesday.
The first week business of FAN will be around 72 crore, which will be poor for a film starring a major superstar like Shah Rukh Khan. More so when it was given a big release of 3500 screens. The film could finish with lifetime business of around 85 crore, which will make it the lowest grossing SRK film since My Name Is Khan in 2010.
The overseas box office too isn’t sustaining as well as it was expected to. A few countries like Pakistan and UAE are holding up well, but others have shown bigger than expected drops.
Overall, FAN has disappointed at the box office because the film was expected to perform at multiplexes. It was never a film that was meant to do well in the heartland of India, like Shah Rukh himself said, but even he would agree that it’s the target audience (read moviegoers at multiplexes at Urban centres) who have rejected the film Saturday evening onwards.

My review : Fan is the Future of every Shahrukh Khan Fan
Fan is more than just a film. its a real meta moment for every srk fan who has worshipped him, loved him, admired him for years of agony and admiration and at the same time it is also about shahrukh, the arrogant star-businessman that he has been over the years. Fan is everything that is wrong about shahrukh and everything that is right about the situation of his fans today.
gaurav chandna , a look alike fan of srk is symbolic of all his fans in real life that resemble him and otherwise, many even in this group. They have loved sharukh over the years, given their precious time to him, idolised him, put all their faith in him , fought with relatives, with their best friends but never let the faith get dwindled. with Fan , maneesh sharma has made a strong statement (willingly or unwillingly) that this is what you get when you idolise a star blindly for years and years.
You are promised a great film and what you get is a botched up OTT masala devoid of logic and coherency. you are promised a great performance and what you get is srk howling like a dog under prosthetics which werent really needed in the first place. You , as a fan, wait and wait for years to finally get a reward for supporting your star through his bad films and then he disappoints you. you dont like it. you speak to him about it. you ask him to just say “sorry ” once to you, as a fan, who supported him through thick and thins for years and the arrogant star shows you the middle finger. Through gaurav chandna, maneesh communciates to srk, the superstar, the agony of every srk fan , over the years, who has felt apologetic about his poor filmography and never expressed it in public and when he tries it to express to the star himself, the star will further fool you with no remorse. At the end you either have to kil yourself or atleast the fan in you. As gaurav says in the climax “jaane de, tu nahi samjhega”.
Rating : 2/5 on the movie but 5/5 for the underlying message

DHRISHYAM is a poor REMAKE thanks to Ajay’s horrible acting compared to original. In the era, where even LALLU gives remakes after remakes crosses 100cr, DRISHYAM despite tabu’s help cannot cross 100cr shows drunken sunken bewda eyes aukhaat.
Fan flops because of srk fans not watching his films or he has no 3.6 billion fans
I wish some idiots calling FAN a content rich film get certain facts straight that making a different genre movie doesn’t qualify as a content rich film. A content rich film is about over all quality.
Indicine is the only website calling it a flop. Rest all (boi, koimoi) are calling it a successful film.
I guess this is just to present negativity around the film. In one article indicine says it needs to collect 65 cr to recover costs and now when it does that, it is calling the film a flop. Also @indicine wait for the overseas collections. You know how big a star SRK is in overseas. So let’s not decide it so early.
How much according to you does fan need to collect from domestic and overseas to be termed as an average movie and as a hit?
If you ask me to go by Fan Business economics then you have got it wrong there.. Coz fan already collected 65 cr and u r calling it a failure. Can you please provide it here in the comments section. I am sure many people want to know that.

FAN is not a bad movie. I think after seeing the box office failure of Dilwale & FAN, Neutral peoples hate SRK than his film. If this is true then even 3idiot (supposed srk is in place of aamir) will be average or flop movie either & do not expect good numbers from raees also. So, SRK should concentrate his PR than his upcoming projects if he want to rule some years more. He should show off his charities, should involved/ participate in patriotic activities. If he help poor especially maharastrian this time where there is shortage of water then his PR will improved in a night. I feel bad for SRK because he deserved many more than what he got. I hope & pray that he will won award for FAN like he won for SWADESH even the film was failure financially.
If ACTING & only ACTING is the main criteria to stay alive in the bollywood then SRK has many lives & long to go to finished his career as main lead role. Otherwise, I do not see him in future to ruled Bollywood like he did once. I hope this year he might make a new record of Bollywood and he deserved it. 1- Kings overconfidence thats 2 doses of his overacting would entice his youtube fans to theatres and
2- his Youtube focused fans assuming neutral audiences were enough to make Pankha a 200cr grosser n they themselves can spend 24 hrs a day haunting/ hounding YRF to gift wrap EID for Raeesa Bhabi n not Sultan…!
