Shah Rukh Khan’s FAN has flopped at the domestic box office, as the film has dropped by 5% on a holiday for ‘Mahavir Jayanti’. It was clear from the trend over the first weekend itself, that the drop over the weekdays was inevitable. But there was hope that FAN would sustain to reasonably good levels on Monday and then show decent growth on Tuesday (partial holiday). Both of those expectations weren’t met and the film crashed both on Monday and Tuesday.
The first week business of FAN will be around 72 crore, which will be poor for a film starring a major superstar like Shah Rukh Khan. More so when it was given a big release of 3500 screens. The film could finish with lifetime business of around 85 crore, which will make it the lowest grossing SRK film since My Name Is Khan in 2010.
The overseas box office too isn’t sustaining as well as it was expected to. A few countries like Pakistan and UAE are holding up well, but others have shown bigger than expected drops.
Overall, FAN has disappointed at the box office because the film was expected to perform at multiplexes. It was never a film that was meant to do well in the heartland of India, like Shah Rukh himself said, but even he would agree that it’s the target audience (read moviegoers at multiplexes at Urban centres) who have rejected the film Saturday evening onwards.

@xzone the worst nightmare of your life is not over yet. Next time don’t have the audacity to portray yourself as an expert. Learn to read market trends. We have been running a successful business for years and that’s because to be successful one has to read market trends in every area of business. SRK should have known what to do more than six years ago because he was well aware that his popularity was dropping because of his arrogance from the days of RA One when he made the mistake of slapping his friend over a nonsensical remark. People were watching him for a long time, they began to compare him to Salman, Aamir etc and their personality and their relationships with others. Anyone who is obsessed with oneself will be brought down it’s just becomes a matter of time.
When you use people to get the things you want, eventually you love yourself and those things but it does not last because people are not foolish and eventually they see you for who really are.
SRK are 100% responsible for his downfall and I say that without apology, you called me all sorts of names when I bashed him, I live in a very dynamic business world and doing a lot of business in India makes one get to know the trends and right now just like the rest of the world people are looking to those who are considerate, helpful, forgiving, and expressing love to the common man, not those who consider themselves important, who bribe and buy awards, who are self centered etc sad the say that’s SRK and his manner fooled a lot of people but he could never fool God, even back when he could easily have moved a movie he did not because he deliberately tried to bring down other actors now the Almighty God has brought him down and lifted the very person he tried to destroy along with Ash and Vivek Oberoi. And you fans where were you? Why the supposedly millions not out there watching the movie? So take the blame along with him and for God’s sake remember if you insult the fans of other actors these fans will insult you back.
Most of srk’s great performances have been flops like ASOKA,ANJAAM,SWADES and now FAN .This is why he only does shitty rom-coms!!

Hah! I am loving the hate! I always have. I think srk loves this hate too, I think he feeds on it, I think that has what made him the MOST successful actor in India. Measure it any which way you want. awards, box office collection, critical acclaim, host, businessman, entertainer, wealth, fame, global popularity, heck he’s received more honors and doctorates than even BigB, he’s miles ahead of any other actor. And as for Fan flopping at the box office? Lol, i dont care and i dont think even srk cares about box office collections anymore. We all know he could deliver mega flops every year for the rest of his career and he’d still be the richest actor in India after 20 years! The Revenant was one of the lamest movies I’ve ever seen, probably did very badly on the box office as compared to Leo’s other movies (and Jungle book too, lets hope people let this comparison slide by seeing how people are comparing it with Fan as well) but it fetched Leo an Oscar because he was outstanding in it. And you know what, real Leo fans and real Srk fans would want them to continue making movies like The revenant and Fan no matter how badly it tanks at the box office. Real Stardom isnt how you make blockbusters out of shitty movies (as is the case of so many bollywood movies these days), its when you are SO ridiculously popular that one of the most powerful person in the world – The US President quotes one of your dialogues in his speech and when you are only the second Indian after Dr Abdul Kalam to be awarded a Doctorate by one of the most reputed universities in the world. Dont worry, Bhai or akki or aamir can never even dream of achieving something like that.

I just watched SRK interview with ko all mahatma it was taken before release he said he doesn’t care about box office number as long as he has done good acting and loved by those who loved him. Why so much on Bo of this flim. Shah rukh khan is self made star of Bollywood instead of respecting why all media including Indicine is after him to put him down. This site is interesting but in the long run slowly it is destroying Bollywood by creating hates among fans.

Totally agree with @indicine, #fan will go down as a marketing disaster …. right from Shahrukh calling it a niche film and than projecting it as a film from intelligentsia as it was devoid of songs ( whatever logic that was ) … very close midned effort from all concerned where irrespective of the merits of films they were fixated with their ideas …. who would have thought a Khan film will collapse at below 100cr in 2016 and kudos to Indicine team for taking bull by the horns and declaring life time collections at around 95cr ….
