Drishyam is quickly emerging as Ajay Devgn’s best appreciated movie since Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai (2010) and Singham (2011), as the film is not only sustaining well at the box office, but has shown growth on Tuesday. The collections are still on the lower side, but that is only because ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ is still going strong in its 3rd weekend and the Hindi version of ‘Baahubali’ has also sustained well in Week 4.

The film is the 7th highest first weekend grosser of 2015, behind films like Baby, Dil Dhadakne Do and Tanu Weds Manu Returns. ‘Drishyam’ has probably lost around 20-25% of its business to an acclaimed film like ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’, which continued its strong run at theatres in its third weekend.

Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam has collected Rs 6 crore at the domestic box office on Day 1, including paid previews on Thursday. The film opened poorly on Friday, but showed decent growth in business towards the end of the day. The remake of Mohanlal’s Malayalam classic with the same title, Drishyam is carrying positive word-of-mouth which should help the film show growth in business on Saturday and Sunday.
