It continues to rain biopics in Bollywood. The latest to join the bandwagon is actress Sonakshi Sinha, who has been roped in by director Apoorva Lakhia for Haseena Parkar biopic.
Haseena Parkar is the sister of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, who passed away after suffering from a massive heart attack in July last year. The biopic has been titled ‘Haseena – The Queen of Mumbai’.
“Mumbai underworld don Dawood Ibrahim has 12 siblings. Haseena aapa was a very complex personality . I have just picked up the threads of her journey and knitted together the tapestry of her life. I was approached by Sameer Antulay with the idea and Mubina, Sonakshi and I are all set to bring her story alive” director Apoorva Lakhia was quoted as saying to Times Of India.
Sonakshi will be playing the title role.
“It’s a great script, a powerful role, a very intriguing story and an opportunity to play a character who is the polar opposite of me. I have always wanted to be a part of a biopic and this is the perfect one. It’s going to be extremely challenging for me and I am looking forward to it.” the actress said.
Haseena Parkar is the seventh child of Ibrahim Kaskar and Amina Bi. She was considered to be one of the most powerful women in Mumbai.
In the past, the industry has been criticised for making a hero out of underworld dons and with a biopic on Dawood Ibrahim’s sister, Bollywood’s obsession with the underworld continues.
