This iconic dialogue from Mr. Amitabh Bachchan’s Kaalia holds very true for all the biggest superstars in Bollywood, for they have been the trend setters, youth icons and most importantly the ATM’s of the industry. It’s now time for us to implement the concept of our newly introduced ‘Star Power model’ and find out the leading actors of our country. This piece will evaluate the Top 5 Superstars of 2014. Before proceeding, let us clarify on a few vital points.
1. In the initial stages, this ranking will purely be specific to a calendar year. We’ll judge the star power for a single year in one article, like this article focuses on 2014 only. These rankings shall not be based upon the overall career of any actor and there may be a scenario when the star power of an established superstar ‘A’ falls behind that of a new superstar ‘B’ in a particular year.

1. The difference between the actual opening collections and the star power of a star is nothing but a reflection of his career choices, script sense and marketing abilities. If the opening is higher than the star power for an actor, it means that he is making smart decisions by positively utilising the impact of X-Factors and vice versa.
2. Going by the above concept, Shahrukh Khan seems to playing his cards better than anybody else while Akshay Kumar is someone who is not exploiting his star power to the fullest.

And what about the highly inflated figures of Happy New Year, both opening and lifetime like all Shahrukh movies
Brilliant analysis, although I don’t agree with “-4%” for director of HNY. Farah Khan’s reputation after ‘Tees Maar Khan’ can be considered as negative.
If you specifically talk about star pull and discount other factors, i agree with the rankings. Salman is undoubtedly rank 1. Its a close toss between Aamir and SRK for rank 2. While HR is pretty safe at 4 followed by Akki.
I also believe any of these superstars with right movie and releasing can deliver bumper opening.

we all know that there are no any biggest release date other than EDX ( EidDiwaliXmas ) holidays because of long term holidays in EDX holidays periods
others like Republic n Independence day , Gandhi Jayanti etc are one time holiday after that complete normal days, there is no comparison between one time/small holidays (like Republic n Independence days , Gandhi Jayanti ) and massive/crowds pullers EDX holidays
so BANG BANG should gain 25% in term no so big holidays and clash with Haider that make Bang Bang release date completely disaster date

BANG BANG director Siddharth Anand is as bad director as Shohel khan
so Bang bang should gain 4% percent instead 4% percent less
Tickets Price ;
Ticket price of Bang Bang was not higher than Kick or HNY because 1st Bang Bang was not released in most powerful EDX holidays and 2ndly due to facing clash against Haider
so Bang Bang should gain 4 more percentage than losing 4 percentage

holiday is the biggest advantage for any film.when a movie opens on holiday it does more than what it would do on non holiday. so srk’s last two movies opened on biggest holidays ,so he has record breaking opening.don 2 opened on 23rd december normal friday so it did only 14 cr from 3150 screens, same with salman khan .Dabangg,bodyguard ,Ett are opens on eid day and became the highest openers of all time.but his last 3 movies got released on normal friday so could not break opening records..same goes to Hrithik,Ajay, Even akki with 4 releases in a single year,can give 20+cr opening on holiday.if he does 1/2 movie per year and that movie opens on holiday then he will also give record breaking openings.

I applaud all the effort for the writer, but I don’t stand with the article from day one.
Personally I believe that Any star power not stand only with opening but it also goes along till the lifetime collection, if a movie having content than it doesn’t mean that star power not exist but it multiples. Specially in present era when business is limited for first week & second week, pirate version is available on web world. An actor job is not to do movies but also make movies which justifies the paying public ticket cost.
For me this era is belong to Aamir khan, he not only justified the opening but also lived upto expectation which are generally much much higher among audience than any star movies.
