This iconic dialogue from Mr. Amitabh Bachchan’s Kaalia holds very true for all the biggest superstars in Bollywood, for they have been the trend setters, youth icons and most importantly the ATM’s of the industry. It’s now time for us to implement the concept of our newly introduced ‘Star Power model’ and find out the leading actors of our country. This piece will evaluate the Top 5 Superstars of 2014. Before proceeding, let us clarify on a few vital points.
1. In the initial stages, this ranking will purely be specific to a calendar year. We’ll judge the star power for a single year in one article, like this article focuses on 2014 only. These rankings shall not be based upon the overall career of any actor and there may be a scenario when the star power of an established superstar ‘A’ falls behind that of a new superstar ‘B’ in a particular year.

Key Findings
1. The difference between the actual opening collections and the star power of a star is nothing but a reflection of his career choices, script sense and marketing abilities. If the opening is higher than the star power for an actor, it means that he is making smart decisions by positively utilising the impact of X-Factors and vice versa.
2. Going by the above concept, Shahrukh Khan seems to playing his cards better than anybody else while Akshay Kumar is someone who is not exploiting his star power to the fullest.

Another objection from my side .
Every one will admit that Kick album had much more popular songs than HNY album .
So you can’t deduct 7.5% from HNY collections .
Everything looked okay until the director percent cut offs. You cannot deduct the same points for a movie directed by Farah Khan (or even Siddharth Anand) vs. Raju Hirani.
And why does Kick get +12.5% for its release date? Makes no sense when PK didn’t even get that. Pre-eid and Pre-xmas period are considered the same. You shouldn’t award points for a release date. You can deduct them if it releases on a holiday but awarding points doesn’t make sense unless the movie clashes with another movie.
LOL…you guys cut -4% for the director of HAPPY NEW YEAR and -4% for the banner of HNY….
I MEAN LIKE SERIUSLY FARAH KHAN IS SUCH A BIG DIRECTOR ??? ROFL

@Challa, well said regarding aamir. You are the only sensible srk fan I have seen so far who never abused aamir even though Sr and aamir are not friends, unlike some fake so called friend’s fans like James, Anand the fake who are always jealous of aamir and try to downgrade his achievements. I personally don’t hate any actor including salman but his chameleon fan @james has been forcing me to bash him for months.
I knew from the 1st day ,they’ll make salamn no.1,but no one wants to understand salman never took risk always hidden behind masala genre and both of the 2 movies are south remake and holiday releases.
And look at KING KHAN,besides in worst phase of career,KING KHAN IS AT TOP 2(though not considerimg salman’s south remake power).
KING KHAN experimented with 2 movie RA ONE,HNY.so please don’t compare this 2 film with extra advantage getting kick ,pk.also HNY was highly negative wom affected movie in Bollywood ,RA ONE AND HNY is the success only due to KING’S STAR POWER,if any other star would have did RA ONE/HNY it’ll be a big disaster like marigold,yuvraj,veer,mangal pandey,awal number.

After 3-4 movie per year akki is in top 5. This is called real super star.
Next day of diwali is best day of reales time to whole year , i think some more % deduct for it.
We all know that salman Khan is indeed no.1 at the moment..crossing 25 crore twice on a non-holiday is not a joke hence I hugely admire his superstardom and achievements in this decade..
But I’m a bit disappointed with the banner and co-star factors..banner cannot guarantee you a face saving opening let alone the success of that film..and coming to co-stars,
deepika padukone with an upcoming star Arjun Kapoor manages a 5 crore opening whereas when she comes with superstars like Ranbir kapoor and SRK she gets record openings..
So every star got benefits from many sources.
Salman need only 1.6 crore benefits
Aamir need only 7.7 crore benefits
while Srk needs 25.2 crore benefits to survive.
So it is clear
Salman >> Aamir >>>>>Srk in stardom.

You think audiences watched PK many many times repetitively bcoz they wanted to listen to Rajus dialogues or watch his camerawork and not Aamir uttering those dialogues or having the camera glued to his each n every expression….? You idiot get a life- PKs success was around 90% down to Aamir- great script YES but even great scripts today like TALWAR wont earn that much bcoz you need Aamir to bring the magic out of the words to mesmerize the audience. Dialogues are one thing but its the actor who delivers the dialogue to audience n thats what makes a great script into a great successful movie you retard…!

Stardom is not only about opening day no. It is also about the script sense.This analysis does’nt sheds light upon that prospect. Aamir is the no. 1 when it comes to script selection.

I believe, Aamir khan is the nummer uno superstar right now. He does not have crazy following like srk and salman but he command huge goodwill and trust among silent family audience. Aamir, srk or salman all can break any record exists on a good day and with a good film. Hritik Roshan is a distance 4th and all other actors are not in the same league. Akshay and ajay almost past their prime to give any contest to Khans. They will remain big stars abut could not make the game and get hits here and there.
Ranbir had a huge chance to get the place where Hritik is but wrong choice hurt him. But he has still the biggest project and im quite sure today or tomorrow he will be a force to recon. On new generation only Barun Dhawan has the spark to make it huge. Ranveer singh and Shahid Kapoor, i don’t think very high on them, for me they are not megastar material as ajay devgn or akshay kumar.
