Tanu Weds Manu Returns has completed 25 super successful days at the box office and has emerged an ’All Time Blockbuster’- the first of 2015 and the first since Aamir Khan’s PK.
The film has collected Rs 143.5 crore and has beaten films like Rowdy Rathore, Dabangg and Bodyguard. The next target is Dabangg 2, but the collections of that film (Rs 155 crore) will be out of reach, as Tanu Weds Manu Returns is likely to end its glorious run with net box office collections of around 150 crore.

The Kangana Ranaut starrer has also grossed more than Rs 250 crore worldwide, which is an incredible achievement for a film made on a budget of around 32 crore.
In terms of small to medium budget films doing extraordinary business, Tanu Weds Manu Returns has set the benchmark so high that it will be tough for any film to make such profits. Even though a film like ‘PK’ exceeded trade expectations, the Rajkumar Hirani – Aamir Khan film was always expected to be a huge grosser, but for a film that was best expected to collect Rs 75 crore in India, Tanu Weds Manu Returns has almost done double the business.
Previously, smaller films like ‘Aashiqui 2’ and ‘OMG! Oh My God’ have gone on to be huge grossers, but very few films in the last decade or so have achieved what ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ has. The achievement only gets bigger when you consider the fact that the film did not even have a bankable male star.
Verdict – ALL TIME BLOCKBUSTER
With megastars like the Khans turning 50 this year and the industry still waiting for its next big superstar after Hrithik Roshan, will the future of the industry be content-driven films? Will true superstardom end with the likes of the Khans, Kumars and Roshans? Will the industry no longer be a male-dominated one in the future? While it’s too early to draw such conclusions from the success of just one film, a few more successes like ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ might get filmmakers and corporate houses thinking!

Everyone is saying content is the king,but its not even true in case of hollywood,how the hell can it be true for bollywood?If only content was the king then films like birdman,boyhood or whiplash would have been highest grossers of 2014 instead of xmen dofp,gotg,dawn of the planet of the apes.What makes the 2nd kind of films more successful than 1st kind of films is sheer entertainment with content.Similarly pk,twmr had crowd pleasing entertainment along with content,thats why these have been atbbs.I can swear that katti batti,rangoon will be average dangal will be superhit at best.Though i am am akkifan i am not sure of brothers being a blockbuster because of lack of crowd pleasing things.People like ff7 type of action,not raging bull type of action.So the bottom line is only content is not enough,you need entertainment in addition to it to be successful.
Why no one is giving any credit to R Madhvan??? He also acted brilliantly in both films of TWM series. @indicine please answer my this question.

It will have no affect on them. You know, development in medical field has reached to new level. You can look young even at 60. I don’t think SRK has aged a day since Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008).
@HJ – He acted well in 3 Idiots, Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein, too. He’s a good actor. I don’t know about his work in south, but he was good in the films that I have seen.
