Tanu Weds Manu Returns has completed 25 super successful days at the box office and has emerged an ’All Time Blockbuster’- the first of 2015 and the first since Aamir Khan’s PK.
The film has collected Rs 143.5 crore and has beaten films like Rowdy Rathore, Dabangg and Bodyguard. The next target is Dabangg 2, but the collections of that film (Rs 155 crore) will be out of reach, as Tanu Weds Manu Returns is likely to end its glorious run with net box office collections of around 150 crore.

The Kangana Ranaut starrer has also grossed more than Rs 250 crore worldwide, which is an incredible achievement for a film made on a budget of around 32 crore.
In terms of small to medium budget films doing extraordinary business, Tanu Weds Manu Returns has set the benchmark so high that it will be tough for any film to make such profits. Even though a film like ‘PK’ exceeded trade expectations, the Rajkumar Hirani – Aamir Khan film was always expected to be a huge grosser, but for a film that was best expected to collect Rs 75 crore in India, Tanu Weds Manu Returns has almost done double the business.
Previously, smaller films like ‘Aashiqui 2’ and ‘OMG! Oh My God’ have gone on to be huge grossers, but very few films in the last decade or so have achieved what ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ has. The achievement only gets bigger when you consider the fact that the film did not even have a bankable male star.
Verdict – ALL TIME BLOCKBUSTER
With megastars like the Khans turning 50 this year and the industry still waiting for its next big superstar after Hrithik Roshan, will the future of the industry be content-driven films? Will true superstardom end with the likes of the Khans, Kumars and Roshans? Will the industry no longer be a male-dominated one in the future? While it’s too early to draw such conclusions from the success of just one film, a few more successes like ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ might get filmmakers and corporate houses thinking!

@sunny chechi: I would like to introduce you to the concept called success rate ( = no. of successes/no. of films released). In the last 5 years, Hrithik has an enviable success rate (especially if you consider his post-Guzaarish releases). Akshay Kumar, on the other hand, did pretty well in 2012 and 2014, but had a really tough time in 2011 and 2013 . Success rate is quite useful as a metric because only counting the number of hits does not factor in the sheer number of releases in a given period.

let salman make any type of movie he like, it is better you do not watch his movies if you do not like. He is the only superstar who have survived in the industry without knowning much acting. As user out here feel that he dont no acting so i want to know from them why he have survives for more than two decade? Why he has more fan following than any other actor in india despite having bad phase due to his own mistake that he have commited in the late 90’s and beginning of 2000’s? Now he is at supreme after giving blockbuster from 2010 continuosly year after year excluding 2013 where he had no release.
