One of the most awaited trailers of 2016 is out. Featuring Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan and Pooja Hegde in the lead, Mohenjo Daro has been directed by Ashutosh Gowarikar – who has previously directed films like the Oscar nominated ‘Lagaan’, ‘Swades’ and ‘Jodhaa Akbar’.
The music has been composed by A.R. Rahman, lyrics have been penned by Javed Akhtar.
Ashutosh Gowarikar’s press statement:
“Mohenjo Daro is not just another historical; it’s pretty much even before history begins. It’s literally going back in the womb of time. It’s a world that I am most fascinated with — who were the people, how did they live, what was the society like, are some of the questions which always intrigued me. I am thankful that I got this opportunity to explore that world through cinema”
“Since this was a make believe world so when I started my research, during the initial phase, I came across Mr. Jonathan Mark Kenoyer’s books “Ancient India: Land of Mystery” and “Excavations at Mohenjo Daro”. I immediately got in touch with Mr. Kenoyer, Dept. of Anthropology, University of Wisconsin to seek his assistance. He has worked at the Mohenjo Daro excavation site for the past 35 years. To my good fortune, he agreed to participate to help me realize the true potential of the story on film. He then suggested to me other esteemed names who could give me inputs on the undeciphered Sindhu script, culture, the town planning and any and every other aspect that seems necessary. They were -R. S. Bisht, Ex-Director, ASI; Prof. Vasant Shinde Jt. Director, Puna University; Dr. P. Ajithprasad, Dept. of Archaeology and Ancient History, MSU, Baroda; K. Krishnan, Dept. of Archaeology, MSU, Baroda; and V.N.Prabhakar, Deputy Superintending Archaeologist, Aurangabad. It was wonderful that they could impart their study, analysis and knowledge to this project.”

VFX is least of MohenjoDaro’s concern. It’s not a fictional movie like Baahubali or superhero movie like Krrish 3 to showcase VFX as focal point or as the USP of the movie. It’s based on a real world. It’s USP will be storytelling, acting, music, realistic fight sequences, romance, and most importantly, mystery of MohenjoDaro, a completely different era.
Bajirao Mastani’s VFX wasn’t that great either, but the movie turned out to be a big success. As long as Ashutosh tells this story set in MohenjoDaro by keeping audience interested, it will be a huge success. It could have worked even without VFX, it would have just required more money to build sets, so it won’t have a big impact on collection.

@Yash, some due to jealousy, some because of sky high expectations. They were expecting it to be full of great VFX like Baahubali. This is more on the lines of Jodhaa Akbar and Lagaan, less VFX, more storytelling.

@abhishek hrithikian,I marked that too man.but the thing is at the start it gave me a goosebumps but may be it’s totally unclear in the trailer,so I kept it for now will decide after watching the movie at theatre.
And rest fight scenes that though not extra ordinary but either not to weird too.
But the two big man facing to beat to hrithik was an interesting one which I missed should be added to the positives,so sorry.

The trailer is very nice… Yeah agree with you wit “something is missing “…that for me should just be d aspect of it being d most expensive movie and d budget… That’s just my perception… I think d budget cost could have been minimized a little bit wit reference to d said 120-130crs.. But maybe when we watch d full movie d budget real budget will be reflected. Movies like Blue, Fan, Kriish 3, Bang bang Ett from trailer seemed more like very expensive movies but as I said beside that “missing link ” the movie will be watched by many and hope not only recovers it budget but attain a very decent verdict at the end.

No. mohenjadaro budget is not big as Bahubali..There Have not any single war scenes.. and also VFX is looks Avarage..The movie is all about script oriented..Not a fully commercial entertainer historical film like bahubali..
And also in the case budget Hrithik salary about 60-70 cr Range..And also production cost will be about 50 cr.. I think budget will be 120 -30 cr..

Something amiss … the big explosion befitting the thrunderous background score is just not there ….. it leads to nothing ….
I just loved the trailer. Hrithik’s arrival in Mohenjo Daro on the boat gave me goosebumps. The only bad thing was the flying crocodile. That was nonsense. The action sequences looked superb. The background score by Rahman is stunning.
However, the best part of the trailer was Hrithik’s body language. The intensity in his eyes. It’s going to be one of his best works.
As for VFX, it ain’t a sci-fiction movie like Krrish, or that fantasy movie called Bahubaali. The comparisons are stupid and uncalled for. Ashutosh is a great story teller and with a great actor like Hrithik, I have no doubt in my mind that it will be an epic movie like Jodhaa-Akbar.
My expectations have doubled now. The inside reports (according to Indicine) are terrific).
Can’t wait for 12 August!!!

I dont know why but trailer is quite ordinary it will definitely struggle after weeken on box office indus valley civilization looks fake hritik same hairstyle looks boring it doesnt have wow factor to say the least
