Kites vs 3 Idiots, this december

In the biggest battle of the year, the two ‘perfectionists’ of Bollywood could clash in December! Its Hrithik Roshan vs Aamir Khan, Kites vs 3 Idiots.

Rakesh Roshan, the producer of Kites, has just confirmed the release date of the Hrithik – Barbara Mori – Kangana Ranaut starrer to December 18th 2009. Aamir Khan’s much awaited 3 Idiots releases just a week later on 25th December 2009.

We think Hrithik’s Kites could end up loosing the battle and here are some reasons why.

1) The budget of Kites is well over 50 crores and Reliance has purchased the movie for a whopping 100 crores. Now while the opening week could be anywhere in the range of 45 – 50 crores, the second week is bound to be affected big time due to the release of 3 Idiots.

2) Big releases a week apart is probably more dangerous than a same day release. The first release, in this case Kites, will no longer be the first choice for a viewer. This could mean a drop of 50% or more in Week 2, a blow the film may never recover from.

3) The number of prints in circulation for Kites will decrease drastically, further affecting collections.

So overall, we think its better for Kites to release a week before or clash with 3 Idiots during the Christmas weekend.

P.S – There are rumours that 3 Idiots could be postponed to early January 2010!

  • Hrithik has done it in the past too. Both Mela( Amir Khan) and Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani( SRK) failed miserably infront of Kaho Na Pyar hai. Another thing, check the opening collections of Mission Kashmir vs Mohabattein. It was at par wid Mohabattein though Mohbattein featured the King AMitabh, SRK and Yash Chopra movie. No doubt Kites will tear apart 3 idiots into pieces.

    Hrithik roshan anytime

  • Its tribattle …

3 Idiots n MY name Is Khan n KItes

Surely Amair is going 2 win …

    But toughest time in bollywood

  • kapan ne triller KITES keluar..ga sabar nunggu trillernya..ga sabar jg nunggu film KITES
di indonesia ada ketiga versinya ga ya…
    can not wait for KITES
    i love u hrithik

  • i think 3 idiots will be the most popular of all times,it is directed by raju hirani firstly and he done good job by casting amir instead of SRK, sosiccess has to b there where it is amir……………………..kites will be good but 3 idiots will be the ultimate…………….

  • com on guys…absolutely kite…becoz his going to break gajini recond and then will blast that big idiot of the bollywood

well jaisa naam waisam hi kaam…look at here the great idiot of bollywood got the movie called 3-idiot,,,rejected by srk

  • bikkie u dumbturd!!

3 idiots will analrape kites to a whole new dimension. and guess what kites ran away. LMAO. it’s gonna release jan 15, 2010 now!!

aamir never runs proven by tzp against welcome!!

  • isaha kya…..let my name is khan get released …..to blast this idiot…..yeh to bhagawan ki meherbani hai ki this idiot is saved from……srk

  • 3 Idiots is certainly not like a Mela! Its content will be way stronger than that of Mela! Aamir Khan doesn’t make the same mistake twice! Also I think both films should not be compared because Kites is a love story while 3 Idiots is a satire.

Hrithik may have scooped awards for a Jodhaa Akbar, but his film wasn’t even close to Singh Is King, let alone Aamir’s Ghajini!

Aamir’s film will be about our education system and its vagaries, so I think it will definitely strike a chord with the audience. It is being directed by Rajkumar Hirani, who’se given far better films than Mr. Rakesh Roshan’s routine masala fare.

Being an Aamir fan, I don’t fear any competition from any Khan or Roshan or Kumar, but I’m worried about his own attitude! I seriously hope his personal tragedy and increased workload (after his wife’s miscarriage) doesn’t affect him or 3 Idiots! He is on a break as of now…I don’t want him to disappear due to personal setbacks once again!!

  • aamir khan will superkick hrithik the retard into space, and into oblivion. thereby proving who the daddy is………………when it comes to acting, aamir is the teacher and hrithik is the student. aamir is the driver and hrithik is the passenger. aamir is the father, hrithik is the child. in short, aamir is the man, hrithik is the spastic retard child.
end of story. no more questions to be asked.

  • Spiderman: you’re a super idiot.. when it comes to the beauty and the body perfections.. Hrithik is the king.. Aamir is the servant.. Hrithik is tall like a tree.. Aamir is short like a dwarf.. when it comes to the dancing steps.. Hrithik is like M. Jackson.. Aamir is like ( no one) coz he can’t dance.
when it comes to the age.. Hrithik is around 30.. and Aamir is above 40.. Hrithik will survice longer in bollywood.. Hrithik is the one who changed bollywood to the best in the last 5 years.. when it comes to acting.. both r good, I can’t deny this fact, but u spiderman (must) value each actor’s strength as an actor in a different way, not trying to downgrade Hrithik in order to upgrade Aamir.. who’ll listen to you when u say such a stuff.. Hrithik is big & successful and u can’t humiliate him by your stupid lines u posted on this page!

  • spiderman..right as fathiya said ..

if you like that..spiderman…amir will be lose fans…
right fathiya said…each actor’s strength as an actor in a different way, not trying to downgrade Hrithik in order to upgrade Aamir..

you should thinking the feeling of amir and hrithik fans…

personally I love both of them…but I love hrtihik more…

and I hope kites and 3 idiots will be succes…(i’m admire with their acting skills)..

my top idols in india industry are hrithik roshan and amir khan

    and fathiya..

don’t tell about the phisique of them..I think we will be fans ..just not because of phisique…

    personally I love hrithik …not just only phisique…but everything bout him..his personality..his phisique..his acting..his looks…etc…everything bout him

I love him so much as an actor and as human being…he is great ^^

and to amir fans…I’m consider …amir is great as actor..and personally hrithik himself doesn’t want to compare with him..both of them are the best their own way…amir himself praising hrithik performance in koilmilagaya…

he called hrithik after watching him in koilmilagaya by phone…do you know bout that ?? and amir himself talk that hrithik can make the big something in the future to bollywood industry…

passed by kites film is one of them…this film can open global film and changes the bollywood industry…

  • Fathiya .. u r rite Upto that .. But When it comes to acting Amair Is the Boss .and Hrithik is his servant…

Hrithik has number of flops ………But amair has only 1 Flop ……Hrithis is nothing without his father …

He repeats his dancing steps .. Hrithik cannot say dailouge perfectly .. But Amair can do it ..

Hrithik is going to be pissed by amair

  • hi guys…hrithik n aamir are the best in bollywood
i love hrithik n aamir..hrithik n aamir are the king of bollywood
look kahona pyaar hai,koi mil gaya,krrish,dhoom2,joodha akbar
look lagaan, dil chahta hai, rang the basanti, gajhini, tare zameen par
all movie of hrithik n aamir r the best movie

    HRITHIK & AAMIR
    good acting,talented,perfectionists

  • @Wanted

Aamir has one flop? Aamir had many flops in the 90s when he wasnt even a huge star. This decade he has 2 flops Mela and Mangal Pandey. But he has done just 7 -8 films. He took at break for 5 years.

Hrithik has risen very strongly from Koi Mil Gaya. Not a single flop since 2003.

  • It is Aamir Khan who has changed the face of Indian cinema in the last 5 years with his top notch acting in path-breaking films! As an actor, Aamir is miles ahead of Hrithik Roshan. Aamir’s talent is stratospheric, Hrithik is yet to touch that realm.

Height or good looks alone are not enough! Hrithik might be taller in terms of physical height, but he is nowhere near the professional heights that Aamir has scaled!

Lastly, I don’t think an actor who’s yet to complete even the first 10 years of his career as an actor, should be compared to a stalwart veteran who has a career spanning 21 years!

3 Idiots like any other Aamir Khan film, will rock big time! No comparison, no competition!

All the best to both men!

  • Mz_Hyunki: you’re right.. absolutely right.. I never care about the phisiques or whatever.. I was just “teasing” Spiderman and tried to tell him something against what he said.. now I’m a big fan of Shahrukh and consider him the best.. does shahrukh hv a good phisique as Hrithiks does? No.. Shahrukh got the charisma oncreen which no one got in bollywood so far ( and that’s the gift he got) neither Hrithik nor Aamir.. Aamir is a very good actor and I always loved his movies.. but you’re saying that he got just one flop movie?!!! I don’t think so.. you’ve to check in the page (Ask Us) with indicine Team.. if what you’re saying is correct!

Wanted-dead or Alive: No frined.. I can’t agree with you that Aamir is the king and Hrithik is the servant!! you’re humiliating one of the top and biggest star in bollywood.. you should not repeat what Spiderman said.. it’s not fair.. Hrithik is a very good actor and he proved himself from the first movie he did and using his dialague perfectly.

Kiran: Hi.. how’re you? You’re right.. agree with you

  • what ‘s happen with you wanted dead or live

amir just doesn’t have one flop ..right fathiya said..you must know your idols very deeply..

yup hrithik has many flops but it happens in 2001-2003 likes AMALL, MDK, NATUM JANO NAHUM, YADEEIN and MAIN PREM KI DEWA NI HOON..

but it happens in the past..he just done bad movies because wrong reason…he considers that..it dones because the ifluence of his surrounding him..he did all bad film with not full of his heart…and finally flop

    he ever says like this…

I just do the film that I believe ..if I still do the film that I don’t believe…It will be fail..

and take a look what happen with all bad films than he did…it fail…

and after that..since the succes of koilmilagaya…he will be super selective and be consistent with he says to choose the script,,

of course now he choose the great quality project…he refuse a lot of script that can’t touch his heart…

look laksya,krissh,dhoom2 and JA…all of that is great films and do so well in BO except laksya ( although laksya doen’t so well in BO , but this film is really great and his performance is praisng by critic)

he is the only one india superstar that signed brad pitt management..and has agent in LOS ANGELES and receipt a lot of script but stills refuse all…coz it dosn’t have challenge to him and maybe not substantial..

so agree with fathiya..stop insult and humiliating one of the top and biggest star in bollywood…

don’t be too blind with your idol…amir khan…

analyze and thinking it with the cool mind..

coz both of them are great actor and give contribute not just only in india..but they gives contributes in international too

lagaan has been nominated in OSCAR as best foreign film…(amir khan’s film) and JODHA AKBAR has been nominated in BAFTA as best foreign film (hrithiik roshan’s film)..hrithik himself get the first international award as best actor in RUSIA because of his performance in there…

so both of them are the best in their own way…no doubt ^^

as for fans of bollywood film…we must proud because of them..not humiliating each other…

I’m really tired with the fighting between of the fans…

and you must to know..I’m not Indian…I’m Indonesian…me as Indonesian proud of them..why you are Indian people not appreciate your actor in your country ??

    wake up…

they have decision and walk in their own way for your development and increasing of bollywood industry too..not just for theirself…but for your country too…so you must appreciate your great actor..

btw thanx kiran and fathiya..I agree with you…

    and about SRK….hmm…no comment…thanx^^

  • KITES BOUGHT FOR Rs 150 CRORE

Hrithik Roshan’s Kites has reportedly struck a new high in the Indian film industry. The film industry is abuzz with the news that the film has been bought by Reliance Big Pictures for almost Rs 150 crore. And this in the times of recession. The film is produced by Rakesh Roshan, directed by Anurag Basu and stars Hrithik Roshan, Kangana Ranaut and Barbara Mori.

Our industry source says, “Every major corporate house in the industry was looking to get the rights of Kites. The deal has been closed at over Rs 150 crore. The deal includes worldwide rights, along with overseas, music, satellite and video rights. However the deal is only for a certain period with a minimum guarantee amount. This amount is over Rs 150 crore.”

The amount is so big that now Reliance will hold all the rights. Trade experts affirm that only that can make it a feasible option, although the risk of such a huge price cannot be ruled out. Some of the recent big deals have been struck for Singh Is Kinng (around Rs 70 crore) and Om Shanti Om (around Rs 60 crore). Kites surpasses both by a long shot.

When contacted, Rakesh Roshan said, “I cannot comment on the amount. The deal is of a completely new structure, not tried out here before, and the amount can even go up to Rs 200 crore. The fact is that the deal has been divided into two structures all over and the film has been made in two versions – one for the Indian market, the other for the overseas market.”

Roshan revealed his strategy, and said, “I was playing the waiting game, for I wanted to see who would take the initiative. I think the vision of Big Pictures matches my vision – about the film’s international appeal.”

Roshan gave the credit for the deal to Hrithik, and his banner Filmkraft. He said, “This time our film has an appeal not only for Indian viewers and NRIs, but also for an international audience.”

Speaking about the two versions of Kites, he said, “English is the most common language all over the world. The Indian version has more Hindi dialogues, while the overseas one has more of English. However, essentially it is a Hindi language film.”

Rajesh Sawhney, official spokesperson, Reliance Big Pictures, says, “We (Filmkraft and Reliance Big Pictures) will mutually arrive at a figure closer to the release date. I think it is a great script and a great cast with international potential. That’s why we have struck this deal.”

When asked if the huge price is justified, trade analyst Amod Mehra said, “If Ghajini can make more than Rs 100 crore, why not Kites?

The film is scheduled for a Diwali release.
