Nothing against Shahrukh Khan or Karan Johar here. But watching every news channel and newspaper give My Name Is Khan national importance, is hard to digest. Even now with the film having released across all multiplexes in India, the topic of discussion and debate continues to be the film.
Surely there are bigger problems in the country, that deserve more coverage and importance, don’t you think?
Also would other actors get the same backing from the media, the government and not to mention the industry, as MNIK has?
1) When Aamir Khan’s Fanna was banned in Gujarat, not many stood up for the actor, least the media. The producers (Yashraj) lost a lot of money.
2) Hrithik Roshan’s last film Jodha Akbar too was banned in Rajasthan, later in Madhya Pradesh and eventually in UP. Where was the government, the media? Why wasn’t the same security and assurance provided to the film and its makers? The film lost 6 – 8 crores, no less.
All we are trying to say here is, irrespective of how big / small the film is, irrespective of who the lead star is, every film that is passed by the censor board should witness a smooth release all over.

It grossed 8 crore WITHOUT half of Maharahstra showing the film.
What more can you or for that matter the makers ask for.
Maharashtra has the most mutiplxes and single screens than any other state, 50% of these multiplxes did NOT show the film. As a result the gross from Maharashtra was about 1.3, when it usually for flicks like this, double delhi/UP.
8 crore is brilliant given the circcumstances MNIK released in, Veer only did 6.7 crore and it opened EVERYWHERE!
You might like to know that WORLDWIDE, the film has roughly grossed 25 crore on its opening 2 days (friday, but the film opened on thursday in UK, Aussieland and New Zealand) thats a record!

2500 prints is the number of prints WORLDWIDE, this is the amount of prints ALTOGETHER for every country that My Name is Khan has released in so far, so why are you using the gross in India for this? My Name is Khan grossed 8 crore only in India on its opening day.
You should be using the WORLDWIDE gross, where ill think you find that Veer flopped, it was rejected overseas.

PUNE: Cinema houses including multiplexes here on Saturday released Shah Rukh-starrer My Name is Khan after its successful screening in Mumbai.
The decision to go ahead with the screening of MNIK was taken at a meeting of theatre owners who had refrained from releasing the movie in the city on Friday.
A heavy ‘police bandobast’ was placed at various cinema halls that decided to show the Karan Johar film. A steady stream of cinegoers was seen at the theatres after bookings of the film opened for the afternoon show.
Meanwhile, the Maharashtra Minister of State for Home, Mr Ramesh Bagwe, appealed to theatre owners and citizens not to pay any heed to the threats issued by Shiv Sena against screening the film. — PTI

My Name is Khan did NOT release in half the cinemas in Maharashtra that it was meant to, there where also many cinemas outside the state that did not screen, are people deaf and bilind to this? Sorry but to state that Mnik did less than 3 idiots, Ghajini is perfectly okay. But Veer did more when it is so obvious it hasnt, get off your high horse!!

To me it is very obvious who the winner is. Whats ridiculous (it isnt really, is that this site, a Salman Khan fanbase, is trying to make out that Salman is bigger) when the facts are so clear.
Shahrukh Khan also lost quite a few fans becuase of his pro-pak staments. The amount of Indian here in the UK who are not seeing the film due to his statements is shocking, my Uni is full of them.
