It was on this day, exactly a month ago, that Shah Rukh Khan’s Dilwale released in theatres. The film took an excellent opening at the box office, collecting Rs 21 crore net on its first day and sustained well enough to cross the 65 crore mark in its first weekend.
It was after the first weekend that the momentum shifted to Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani, which was the first choice for the multiplex audience during the Christmas / New Year holiday weekend.
Dilwale finishes will domestic lifetime business of around Rs 148-149 crore, which will be a little lower than the 4th highest grosser of 2015 – Tanu Weds Manu Returns. Dilwale is Shah Rukh Khan’s 3rd highest grosser after Chennai Express and Happy New Year.
In the overseas markets, Dilwale has crossed the Rs 160 crore, joining My Name Is Khan to become one of the few films to collect more overseas.
The worldwide gross of the film stands at Rs 375 crore, which is comparable to what a solo film like Prem Ratan Dhan Payo collected during the Diwali weekend.

Dilwale was not even at the level of HNY. I think it was as worst as CE & JTHJ. So it failed at box ofice and did less than 149 despite 5 Open Weeks, 3 Holidays, with best director (according indicine), with Varun Dhawan who had 100 % Success Ratio before dilwale. But Dilwale failed even to beat TWMR. Shame on SRK Supporters.
I’m also disappointing for PRDP. Now 200 Cr is very less for any Salman Khan’s movie. Even 2 Rs Sarook also have 200 Cr movie. I want 300 Cr atleast for any Salman Starer.
