It was on this day, exactly a month ago, that Shah Rukh Khan’s Dilwale released in theatres. The film took an excellent opening at the box office, collecting Rs 21 crore net on its first day and sustained well enough to cross the 65 crore mark in its first weekend.
It was after the first weekend that the momentum shifted to Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani, which was the first choice for the multiplex audience during the Christmas / New Year holiday weekend.
Dilwale finishes will domestic lifetime business of around Rs 148-149 crore, which will be a little lower than the 4th highest grosser of 2015 – Tanu Weds Manu Returns. Dilwale is Shah Rukh Khan’s 3rd highest grosser after Chennai Express and Happy New Year.
In the overseas markets, Dilwale has crossed the Rs 160 crore, joining My Name Is Khan to become one of the few films to collect more overseas.
The worldwide gross of the film stands at Rs 375 crore, which is comparable to what a solo film like Prem Ratan Dhan Payo collected during the Diwali weekend.

What to do. That’s the problem with SRK. In worst case scenario also, his movies perform well and shut the mouth of haters. Now, the worldwide collections of Dilwale are comparable to a solo release PRDP (which released on more no of screens without any clash both in India and overseas) featuring “Megastar” of Bollywood. ROFL.
So the Dilwale collection come to an end.140cr lifetime is completely unexpected while BM crossed 180cr+. All thanks to SRK-Kajol that brought the little saving grace for Dilwale overseas collection but as said Overseas collection footfalls are nowhere near to Domestic business of Dilwale. only because of exchange rate it surpasses domestic business.
So SRK-Kajol almost ended their hit record after 6 film with average Dilwale at box office. So even SRK-Kajol has not 100% hit record as a couple. Their last collaboration with MNIK is also under performer in India.
