Dilwale takes record breaking opening in UAE GCC

Shah Rukh Khan’s Dilwale has taken a record breaking start in UAE GCC,  recording the highest opening of all time. The film has collected around 3,300,000 dirhams (a little less than $900,000 as per estimates) on Thursday. The collections are higher than Hollywood film, Star Wars: The Force Awakens which has collected around $500,000 – $550,000.

So how big is the opening compared to other Bollywood films? Check out these numbers:

  • For Phantom , the best performing overseas circuit was UAE-GCC, where it collected $850,000 in its lifetime. Dilwale has collected more in a single day.
  • PRDP collected $640,000 in UAE GCC on opening day.
  • Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan collected $300,000 on Day 1 in UAE GCC. Business affected by Ramzan.
  • Varun Dhawan’s last film ABCD 2 collected $130,000 on Day 1
  • Tanu Weds Manu Returns was phenomenal in the Gulf, Day 1 collections $150,000
  • Varun’s Badlapur collected $135,000
  • Rohit Shetty’s last film Singham Returns collected $205,000 on Day 1, which was also the highest opening for Ajay Devgn in Gulf
  • Salman Khan’s Kick collected $293,000 on Day 1

  • @trooper shut up. Srk is nothing in front of megastar aamir khan in popularity and fam following worldwide. Aamir is biggest global megastar. Dangal will shatter all records of gangu taili srk.

Kahan raja bhoj aur kahan gangu taili.
Kahan megastar aamir khan aur kahan publicity hungry media made struggling actor srk.

  • These is insanely high superstardom of Shahrukh Khan..it means smashing records by a margin! That’s superb. Hats off

  • “The filmmakers have completely distorted the historical facts of the Peshwa era of the early 1700s and has actually portrayed him in an insulting manner. The people of Maharashtra virtually worship the Peshwas so we cannot tolerate what is being depicted in this film,

  • i think 10 % of bm collection is coz dilwale was packed i saw it with my eyes people who came to watch dilwale watching bm …….there is no enough screen for dilwale …….now threater will reduce screen tommarrow n sunday surely i can see it in budsiness sense they will surely

  • @Aman, kaha se ye sab information late ho yaar khud ka site khol rakhe ho kya ? guys plz don’t believe on him. he is saying this for promotions.

  • People who talk about reviews, remember CE got bad reviews of 1 or 2 stars and end up as the biggest hit in Indian cinema. It’s a Rohit Shetty film so reviews are meaningless. public reaction is the key and it seems to be wonderful.

  • Who told you word of mouth is negative
Psss!, yur in dreamland, sleep there while u awake to hear Dilwale has set a new competitive opening day record

  • Due to Historical response from crowd UAE has shows after midnight at 1am 1.30am 1.45am.. Biggest Movie Star On Earth… SRK _/\_ .

  • :- A blockbuster family film of the year! Take your loved ones of all ages. Rohit shetty delivers his best with this action romance. Go for it!

  • @Poor logic 11:05 pm : You are “dissapointed” and not “Disappointed” . Means you have not watched the movie yet and spreading free negativity. Get lost.

@Aman/Javed/Zeeshan : The kind of support you all have shown, is truly commendable. Keep this spirit up guys. We are on safer side now :)

@Javed : True. Hope, Dilwale gets more viewers on weekdays as BM will be completely washout by then.

@Lunatic 11:27 pm : Picking the least numbers? We have 3.5 and 4 ratings as well. But no body is bothered about ratings as long as a movie entertains you and Dilwale is doing the same in theatres.

@Aunt 11:38 pm : When you were having intercourse with Hyderabadi eNViouS in boriwali oops London oops Hyderabad ;-)

    @Shameless Shaggy 11:39 pm : Get lost.

@AK Fan 11:40 pm : We are in 2015, not in 2014. This Xmas , SRK movie has been released, so better talk about him. We will talk and pave our support to Amir next Xmas.

@JhoothaJit 11:46 pm : Not sure about that, but you are surely going to be under mental trauma post the mega success of Dilwale as you had predicted it to be a Flop.

@Star wars 11:46 pm : Reviews won’t impact a masala movie as long as audience feedback is positive. Its true that there is no extra ordinary feedbacks for Dilwale, but at the same time, people are not thrashing it what they did with HNY and PRDP. Whoever has watched it, are satisfied.

  • Here in South Africa, there is no trend of advance booking, so I planned to watch Dilwale after Jum’uah, to my surprise, the afternoon, evening and night shows were sold to capacity. I had to take quite a drive to make it for a 5pm show elsewhere, and it was well worth it. Loved it lots! What an entertainer! Left me wanting more of everyone, SRK, Kajol, Varun (both of them), Krity (special mention)…Even others with lesser screen time excelled in their roles.

After the movie, I randomly asked 7-8 people how they found it to be, each and every answered positively.

**** from me. Wish it had action in the second half too, but the comedy made up for it.

Aam aadmi : Agar Aap ladies na hoti to Main aapko gaali aur thappad maar deta

  • I think the film is finding more appreciation than CE, as I remember some people telling me that CE was just ok and average. For Dilwale, reactions range from great to terrific.
