Dilwale Day 1 (Friday) Box Office Collection Update

Shah Rukh Khan’s Dilwale has picked up at the box office noon onwards on Friday, recording occupancy as high as 80 – 85% in circuits like Mysore and West Bengal. The business even at the rain-affected Chennai is extraordinary – most shows of the film are sold out for the day.

As far as Day 1 is concerned, except the state of Maharashtra, there simply hasn’t been any contest. Dilwale is leading by a distance, both at multiplexes and single-screens all over the country.

The reports coming in for Dilwale are good, response from critics has been mixed (Check out Dilwale Critics Review page).

The film is now looking at a 20 crore plus total, which is excellent considering the fact that it lost about 40% of its shows at multiplexes due to the release of Bajirao Mastani. Both films have lost a huge chunk of business on Day 1 itself and Dilwale with a solo release would have challenged the highest non-holiday opening of Dhoom 3. Bajirao Mastani would have probably collected around 10% more than Bhansali’s last film Ram Leela – which collected Rs 15.73 crore on Day 1. The collections of Bajirao Mastani are set to be lower.

It remains to be seen if both films can recover the losses incurred on Day 1. The trend over the weekend will decide if Dilwale can go on to be a huge grosser and if Bajirao Mastani can recover its costs.

The only major beneficiary of the clash today has been Indicine. We have recorded our highest single day, with nearly 9 lakhs visitors today - 4-5 times more traffic from what we usually get in a day. With 3 hours to go before the day ends, we are set to hit the 10 lakh visitor mark for the first time.

  • 9 lakh visitors…It a very big number.Does it include multiple visiting?Means I visited today several times,it counted 1 or the time I opened the site?

  • My Dilwale review:

Finished. The most entertaining movie of the year by a distance. This exceeded all my expectations by miles. Dilwale is going to rule.

High points: SRK’s Bulgarian entry. SRK & Kajol’s HIMYM inspired date. Car sequences. Varun’s SRK style proposal scene. Gerua.

Dilwale is full of classic SRK Kajol moments with right amount of action, humour & drama. Ypu will fall in love with SRKajol all over again.

Interval. Gripping, entertaining & full of edge of the seat moments so far. SRK & Kajol owns the first half. They look so hot.

The brotherly bond between SRK & Varun is the biggest highlight of the second half. It was humorous in first half but gets emotional later..

High points of second half: Fight sequence of SRK right after interval. Picturization of Daayre. Reunion of SRK Kajol after 15 years.

Varun Dhawan is totally adorable in the movie. He is funny, charming, lovable right from the beginning till the end..

Kriti is so gorgeous & does her part well. Johnny Lever & Sanjay Mishra stand out in supporting cast. Varun Sharma & Boman Irani are okay.

Whatever Dilwale earns this weekend is a bonus for us. The real audience for it will come from the next week vacations. Great repeat value..

I always thought Rohit can never outdo himself & make a better film than Golmaal again but Dilwale proves it wrong. A complete entertainer.

Best Dilwale moment was actually during interval when a boy from BM screening asked me if there’re empty seats in audi if he wants to come.

Btw I was surprised to see a better response to Janam Janam than Gerua & Tukur. The whole auditorium kept shouting throughout the song.

If you love commercial entertainers, you can’t dislike Dilwale unless you went with premeditated mind to hate it. Full of whistling moments….

  • A million. That’s some number. Congratulations Indicine for hitting record number of Visitors in one day. Happy for you guys.

  • Despite a big clash, negative campaigns & shows getting cancelled by protests, Dilwale is recording some crazy numbers all over India.

& If we had a solo release in normal environment, sky could have been the limit for us with collections going over 37cr on non-holiday. Alas!

& Collection more than holiday solo release PRDP in circuits TN-K, Assam & challenging it in WB & Mysore, proves SRK is beyond superstardom.

& also Dilwale has collected much more than Star Wars & Bajirao Mastani cumulatively collected in UAE on day 1. SRK IS WORLD’S BIGGEST MOVIE STAR..

  • If dilwale was to be released on 25 Dec, it would hv got 40+ opening n then new year remaining.
Now with mixed wom let’s hope it doesn’t fizzle out b4 Christmas!

  • When Your Favourite Star Comes On Silver Screen Expectations Are Bound To Be At Higher Side.
So Did Dilwale Fulfilled Those Expectations. I Would Be Honest Here And Answer Is It Pass With Distinction.

Watching The Crowd Cheering SRK Kajol Entry Itself Made My Day Which Was Further Boosted By Laugh Riots In The Hall.
Its Rohit Shetty Film And If You Love Cars Its Another Reason To Watch Film (Tarakki Huyi Hai Bhai. Scorpio Se Ab Royal Royce And BMW Ko Udaaya Hai)
Only Minus Film Had Was First 20 Minutes But After That You Get A Good Piece Of Drama And And And Then Tighten Your Seat Belts (Actually Open Your Seat Belts) As It Follows Laugh Riots By Varun Dhawan, Varun Sharma, Johnny Lever (I Thought You Will Bore Me By Trailer But You Were
The Real Star Sir) And Man Himself Shah Rukh Khan.

    Rating : 3.5/5 To Film & 0.5 To SRKajol : 4/5

  • Apprx 6-7 Crs less than Bang Bang first day. Hmmmm. Bang Bang will remain the Highest opener in a clash for a long time I guess.

  • SRK: I am not scared of these protests. I know my fans love me a lot and they are much more in numbers than such people.

  • even with boycott and all bahitards SRK still the best and he’s just beat star wars in UAE who can do this !! Only SRK

  • Dilwale Will beat Prem Ratan Dhan Payo in Assam and Tamil Nadu / Kerala despite of less screens competition from big film & non holiday. power.
