Yash Raj Film’s Dhoom 3 has become the first film to gross more than ? 500 crore worldwide. The film has ? 269.5 crore net in India (India gross 350.35 crore) and added around Rs 156 crore from the overseas markets to take its worldwide gross to around ? 506 crore.
Dhoom 3 has comprehensively beaten Shahrukh Khan’s Chennai Express which grossed ? 419 crore worldwide, a record that was set during Eid 2013.
The Aamir Khan – Katrina Kaif starrer has also become the highest overseas grosser of all time. Ahead of 3 Idiots (? 125 crore), Chennai Express (? 120.5 crore) and My Name Is Khan (? 105 crore).

Aamir has always done better films…..just that post the multiplex era, his work has got the right and broad audience as well…..probably his films were ahead of its times in 90s……but no one can deny that he was a successful actor back then as well…..with hits to few big hits….

as for star power , both ghajini and 3 idiots were the biggest openers when they released…..films like chak de india, tere naam, talaash, taare zameen par will never be the biggest openers/grossers

@sem i took don2 vs ghajini in the same way when i put Dhoom3 vs Ce in previous case Ghajini got benefit of holiday weekend in next case CE got benefit of holiday weekend while Don2 & Dhoom3 were had normal weekend, and put don2 & ghajini only because they both release on same time i.e. Cristmas period, and no issue if any better trade website come in India and if they are trustworthy than more than welcome from my side, and i not mocking Yash ji death in comments but only add sympathy factor because it normally work for legends in India because we Indians are emotional people.
