Detective Byomkesh Bakshi has collected Rs 4.2 crore on Day 1 at the box office. The film started well in the morning, but was affected by the release of Hollywood film ‘Fast and Furious 7’.
National holidays tend to benefit a film by around 35-40%, but that advantage was negated by ‘Fast and Furious 7’ at high-end multiplexes.
The costs of Detective Byomkesh Bakshi are on the higher side, so the film has to show considerable growth over the weekend to have any chance of recovering costs through theatrical business.
The word-of-mouth is mixed, while a section of the audience seem to have loved the film, the entertainment seeking audience is likely to stay away.

Awesome,kickass,chilling,edge of the seat mystery thriller..
Calcutta has never looked so damn gorgeous on screen ever before,brilliant cinematography.
The film manages to keep you guessing with the next dialogue spoken till the very end of the film,such is the narrative.
You just can’t afford to divert your mind for a moment or you will lose something significant.
Background music specially in the 2nd half of the film is kickass n supports the film very well.
And what can I say about the villain,definitely one of the most menacing I have seen in years now.Now I know why this role was presented to aamir coz it definitely had the potential.
I loved the climax too,it is a bit predictable but one you can relish for a long time.
I have finished watching this film for about 5hrs now,but still I can’t get over it coz this film stays with you.
I am going with 4 stars.
Definitely the best for me this year!! I will be highly anticipating its sequel whenever it will be announced.

As far as boxoffice aspects of DBB are concerned,I doubt it will be a success.The film demands probably too much from your side.People who go to watch mostly light hearted films will come out disappointed.I watched the film in the morning show with only 7 people in the entire theatre!!!

You are telling Ranbir a bad actor,do you know what is acting about,Ranbir may be not a complete actor but is far versatile among his contempories, basically your problem is that Ranbir is still a big crowdpullar than Akki, his extended appearance film took bigger opening than Akki full fledged acclaimed film Baby, even BV will open well irrespective to its verdict.
#fact is Ranbir is bigger crowdpullar than Akshay Kumar at box office while Akki is bigger star than him.

@A seriously Paani with hrithik will collect 200cr even if a movie not well received,dude there is only 5 movies who crossed 200cr marked as per trade 3i,CE,d3,kick and PK.
Hrithik is yet to enter in 200cr club, also it require a holiday release for get in 200cr club for well accepted film whether its Aamir,srk,salman or hr starter.You are talking like 200cr is cake walk, here industry is waiting for its first 100cr non holiday grosser since Singham returns.Apply some logic dude.
after its trailer I knew that this is a dabba movie therefore I did not watched it and save my money for Gabbar Is Back

Also I believe that its not Bollywood that will compel us to rate him higher rather it just turns him to one of d most attention seeker oriented star also taking nothing away from his acting it’s just simple .. if u wanna indulge in RK offscreen then u follow his news affairs excerpts etc if u wanna really judge his talent n acting skills …U just watch his movie ….simple media can’t credit an actors stardom by force …rather it depends wit how d audience adjusts d balance n judge naturally.
