Akshay Kumar’s De Dana Dan has opened to a fantastic response at the box office, once again reaffirming the stars super-strong fan following.
What came as a pleasant surprise are those long queues outside single screens across the country, with poor quality theaters in the remotest areas of Bangalore and Mumbai bustling with people all excited to catch Akki, Paresh and Suniel once again on the big screen.
While the business during the weekends was strong all over the country, its the first working weekday business that holds the key to the film’s success at the box office. Fortunately for Akshay Kumar, unlike his other films this year, De Dana Dan held up pretty well on Monday recording close to 4 crores – aided big time by the strong business at single screens.
The reports in the media of a drop on Monday, is mainly restricted to the multiplexes, which witnessed a drop of close to 50%.
With both films (Paa – Radio) releasing this week, targeted mainly at the multiplex audience, the second week of De Dana Dan should remain strong on single screens. HIT status or more looks highly likely now.

Week 2 – Not too great a start on its second Friday and with the Paa wave all over the country, De Dana Dan is no longer the first choice. Due to high costs and dip in business from Tuesday, the movie is likely to be the 3rd Average grosser for Akshay Kumar this year. 2 flops to begin the year and 3 average grossers to end it.
Week 2 is likely to be around 10 crores nett. DDD should wrap up under 50 crores.

8th day friday has 50% drop then last friday so it was about 3 cr.
sat and sun alltogether 7 cr.
so 2nd weekend 10 cr.
so movie has got 45 cr yet and it is superhit in single screens like wanted and if movie works in singal screen then it means maximum share for distributer. so may be super hit or hit coz Paa didnt get well his weekend is near to 7 cr and i dont need to tell u about radio, jaise radio ko koi sunta nahi waise hi radio ko koi dekhta bhi nahi.
if 2nd week will be more then 16 cr then sure DDD is hit.

DE DANA DAN films 2nd weeks FRIDAYS opening about ( 15-20)% which is very poor for big budget 65 crore film . This films lifetime colletions will be 40 crores which average or below average very dissapointing. PAA doing good business .
according to certain sources DDD’s 2nd weekend collections are around “10” CR !!
WITH “34” CR in the 1st week and “10” CR on the 2nd weekend !!
the total goes to 43-45CR for 10 days !! which is great by any means !!
film will end up earning 49-52CR lifetime i guess !! which will ensure a HIT status at least !!
overseas collection are expected to be in the range of 19-21 CR lifetime !!

December 07, 2009, (Sawf News) – Akshay Kumar will experiment with a new makeover in Tees Maar Khan, which will show him as ‘Pucca hero,’ says the film’s director Farah Khan.
Akshay, who plays a London based Muslim youth in the film, will be seen in designer clothes, stylish long hair and replete with jewelry; the intent being to keep him looking sexy for his female fans.
Aki Narula will be his stylist in the film and a hunt is on for international celebrity hairstylist and makeup artist.
“I will take a look test with him wearing extensions, but if that doesn’t work, then he’ll have short hair throughout the film. But one thing is sure that I will show him as a pucca hero,” reiterates Farah.
Akshay’s character is shown to have a lot of attitude and he will be introduced with a grand entry scene in the film – old filmy style. His jewelry will bear TMK initials, says Farah.
The hunt for the female lead is still on. Farah says if she is not satisfied with a new face then she will go for an established actress.
Farah says that the female lead will be named Anya Khan in the film, the name of her daughter. She had earlier said that Akshay’s leading lady will have to be bold as the script demands her to show some skin.
Filming will begin in March 2010 and the film is due for release on December 25, 2010.
