Question: Can Shahrukh Khan’s Happy New Year beat Salman Khan’s Kick at the box office?
Answer: This has to be the most asked question in the last couple of the weeks – our inbox has literally been flooded with the same question. Prior to release, Happy New Year seemed like it had more than a decent chance of crossing the 233-crore business of Kick.
But with the film dropping Monday onwards, it won’t be easy. In fact, Kick could already be out of reach. In 5 days, Happy New Year has collected around 137 crore. In the same number of days, Kick had collected 10 crore less (127 cr). But on the following two days, Kick collected Rs 21.66 cr (Wednesday) and Rs 15.4 cr (Thursday) due to Eid, taking its first week total to Rs 164.21 cr. Happy New Year is likely to fall short of the first week total of Kick by around 4 crore.
The Salman Khan starrer showed fantastic growth in business in its second weekend too – 9.22 cr, 10.62 cr and 14.16 cr. Happy New Year has to better that to have any chance of going past Kick, which looks unlikely at this stage due to drops from Monday.
Interestingly, for a film that was expected to be the 3rd biggest grosser of the year after HNY and PK, Kick could well remain the highest grosser of the year by the end of 2014 if PK doesn’t live upto its sky-high expectations.

So, six day total: just 147 Crores plus
I am a srk fan and i think film should have released on 23rd oct instead of 24th oct. First day- 25 crores (laxmi pooja). Second day would have been 40 crores instead of 45. Third day- 30 crores. Sunday 4th day 28 crores . By doing this hny would have earned 123 crores till sunday instead of108. Difference of 15 crores. This will be difference in lifetime collections of kick and hny. Kick-233. Hny-218.
kick will be broken easily. first week 160 cr. second week 50 cr. third week 20 cr. rest 10 cr. total 240 cr. so second weekend will decide what will happen.
This is nonsense prediction. Just wait for second weekend. Definitely happy New year will come up with very good nos.

Happy New Year opening was earth shattering i thought that HNY will smash Dhoom-3 life time record and become a first 300 crore grosser in India but the Weekdays collections looking worst no 20 crore 25 crore between 32 crore to 15 crore, wtf! yar… see (Day 3 32 crore, day 4 15 crore its a 17 crore amount difference). SRK and HNY disappointed me except Junior Bachchan(Nandu Bhide Dimaag Main Keede) remaining cast was too slow SRK’s(Ghisey Pitey Old Dialogues) bored i am SRK’s fan but this time SRK disappointed.
Well Now its time for HNY chase SRK’s 2013 All time blockbuster and my favorite movie Chennai Express’s Record of 227 crore but for KICK sorry to say it is impossible for Happy New Year.
hny will collect worldwide 400 cr which is not possible for salman khan .
before 2010 salman was like shahid kapoor. 1 hit 4 flops. after 1996 before 2006 aamir was totally flop actor. but badsha is always badsha

Definitely it ll Indicine. Coz I know the drops are big considering the screen count. So even if it manages 160 CRORES in first week. Getting 60 CRORES in life time is easy.
And there is no big release in second week.
Chennai express with competition could do around 75 CRORES in remaining days after its first week run. So WY can’t hny. Guess its very early call it a day as far as beating life time collections of kick
And supposedly if u reduce the screen count the occupancy would be more. Drops would have been less but the income would have been the same. Let me give an example
3000 screens with occupancy of around 50 to 60 percent would have got u around say 15 CRORES. So u would say the drop is less. Its holding up well.
But with a screen count of 4700 plus with an occupancy of 35 to 45 percent which hny has u are getting 14 CRORES. So amount is same but drops are more. That’s the case with high screen count. Thought u would know this

As the trend suggests, I accept the movie is dipping but, well writing it off is bad! It still has a good chance to beat KICK! It has just finished 5 days – and doing almost 140 crores in 5 days is huge. That’s an achievement. I believe somewhere the dip in Sat/Sun collections cost it, had it been a little more than 35cr on both days, would have changed the scenario right now. But still, the movie has a long way to go to finish off. I still believe it to do 235cr.+. Yeah, the expectations were huge, the negativity which was usual for an SRK starrer, has impacted a lot. (though, I believe if the movie is good, negativity should not matter). 160+ still on the cards, and 30+ 2ndweekend would take it close to 200 after which it still has a chance to be the highest grosser for now. Anyway, lets hope for the best! And, guys please stop fighting or ridiculing someone, appreciate the hardwork. This is for all. Cheers :)

so, salman is a bigger star than srk for sure. this scenerio has been running since 2010, everitime people predicted that srk would beat salman this time for sure, and this year it totally seemed that he would beat him with such a high opening record, but now kick’s life time collections are becoming huge targets. so now it’s proved that srk is not as big star as aamir and salman.
Lets compare worldwide gross. Money is money, whether made in india or abroad.

Stop twisting the tale my dear friend. We are talking of HNY not Salman’s fans animosity with Aamir or 3 idiiots.
As far as I know, majority of Salman fans are Aamir fans, and they never said Salman films will break this record or that record of 3 idiots.
It is srk fans who are fighting with every other star. They were the ones who were yelling of 300 to 350cr for HNY.
Most of us never said Kick will create 300 cr club. Infact It was Indicine who published it will create 300 club after just a day or two of collections. They are just getting in a habit of getting in to the sway and hype.
I better not talk negative about them, as my posts are being held back for no reasons since I had a bit of panga with them for saying that film collections are depends not on first day collections alone but majorly on star power + holiday and content.
Aamir khan had suggested this interesting formula to determine word-of-mouth of a film.
3 idiots. First weekend – 40 crores. Lifetime – 202 crores. i.e. 5 times the first weekend
Queen. First weekend – 10 crores. Lifetime – 60 crores. i.e. 6 times the first weekend
No Salman/Shahrukh/Hrithik/Akshay movie has been able to do this in recent times.
Salman and Srk break box office openings but their movie sticks only for 3 weeks in the theatre. Aamir himself wasnt able to recreate 3 idiots magic with Talaash and Dhoom 3. Ranbir did that with Barfi which had rock solid word of mouth.
So the trend gives me a feel that HNY will finish somewhere between 195 to 210 crores while pk which would rake around 90 to 95 crores in opening weekend should atleast collect 3 to 3.5 times the weekend and cross 300 crores.

3 Idiots is the only exception. It’s easier for films like Queen, because the opening was way too low (less than 2 cr). 3 Idiots took a record-breaking opening and then did 5 times its first weekend business. The second highest grosser back then was Ghajini, which was about 35-40% higher than the 3rd highest grosser (Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi).
no chance to break kick record kick was pre eid release with debut director,small heroine but it collect much higher where as hny as everything which big movie needs diwali holiday,biggest actress,farah khan with srk after superhit mhn,oso,huge promotion i mean biggest promotion for any movie till date in bollywood but it is struggling to cross kick first week collection this shows the starpower of salman as he is way ahead of srk and others .
