Question: Can Shahrukh Khan’s Happy New Year beat Salman Khan’s Kick at the box office?
Answer: This has to be the most asked question in the last couple of the weeks – our inbox has literally been flooded with the same question. Prior to release, Happy New Year seemed like it had more than a decent chance of crossing the 233-crore business of Kick.
But with the film dropping Monday onwards, it won’t be easy. In fact, Kick could already be out of reach. In 5 days, Happy New Year has collected around 137 crore. In the same number of days, Kick had collected 10 crore less (127 cr). But on the following two days, Kick collected Rs 21.66 cr (Wednesday) and Rs 15.4 cr (Thursday) due to Eid, taking its first week total to Rs 164.21 cr. Happy New Year is likely to fall short of the first week total of Kick by around 4 crore.
The Salman Khan starrer showed fantastic growth in business in its second weekend too – 9.22 cr, 10.62 cr and 14.16 cr. Happy New Year has to better that to have any chance of going past Kick, which looks unlikely at this stage due to drops from Monday.
Interestingly, for a film that was expected to be the 3rd biggest grosser of the year after HNY and PK, Kick could well remain the highest grosser of the year by the end of 2014 if PK doesn’t live upto its sky-high expectations.

It’s an underperformance for HNY if it fails to beat Kick. That was my minimum expectation. Although HNY is a decent entertainer, it isn’t that one solid movie you’d look forward to. SRK has already proved his stardom with CE. He needs to stop working with his friends and give way to more skilled directors who can employ his talent to the best. Still, it isn’t as big an underperformance as Jai Ho and Bang Bang.

Happy New Year has every chance of crossing Kick’s Lifetime Collection.. It would b foolish to think that HNY would collect 18 in weekdays.. Has post diwali all schools and office again resume their work which is not the case with christmas weekend.. It has an extend course of holidays! According to me HNY is on the track to be the biggest grooser of 2014! As even CE collected near 70-75 crore after the end of its 1st week! 1st week collections of HNY seam to be around 160-165 crore.. Thn good second week can take it to 210 220 crores.. So just keep calm and watch.. As the old saying says ”Slow & Steady Wins the Race”

Crappy new year’s budget must be as high as 150 crores if the extravagant & over-the-top promotions & marketing costs are taken into consideration (Before the movie’s release the budget was bragged about as much as 140+ crores excluding the promotions & marketing but since the movie is under performing the movie’s total budget would be definitely restated as less as 100-120 crores including promotions & marketing), so just to be a clean hit it has to at least collect as much as 200+ crores and 225+ net to be a super hit in india, 180+ crore collections may be argued upon as a disputed hit (like the epic immortal classic ra.1) but not as a clean hit. Going by the trend it may just about crawl to 200 crores (if our king keeps manipulating the collections like the way he has done so far) and can even fell short of the 200 crore mark but the chances of it crossing ‘kick’ are slim now.
Really proud of farah ji, she has made sure that her family’s legacy of gifting ever green torturous and legendary crap movies to the indian public will continue and has proved she is a better CRAP director than her hubby & bro, but honestly speaking she epitomizes women empowerment in the field of Indian cinema and is really one of the best choreographers in indian cinema but her directorial skills are just *&!%@&#$@&@% and seriously i don’t why she is so obsessed with king’s ugly skeleton body or his 6 pack abs or 8 packs or 4.2 billion (number of king’s worldwide fans) packs whatever that she wants to go him shirtless in her movies? without any doubt srk has the ugliest body among all the superstars and apart from her torturous direction she tortures public by exposing srk’s ugliest body in her movies! if joker was one of akki’s worst movie & humshakals saif’s, crappy new year is undoubtedly one of king’s worst crap movies and only comparable to ra.1 and our if we look back at king’s 20 long year career apart from 7 or 8 movies all his movies have been just irritating craps, he is a good actor ( or a over-actor) no doubt but he should be doing movies which are more suitable to him and not craps like hny or upcoming craps like fan or raees, all the best to king of craps or crap king srk :)
