The collections of Bang Bang have dropped further on its first Saturday (Day 3) at the box office, with net business of 20.1 cr (including all versions). The problem for the film is the mixed to negative reports that it’s carrying.
The mass centres in India like C.I and C.P Berar have continued to gradually drop, while business in the Mumbai circuit never hit the top gear on any of the three days, the Gujarat / Saurashtra belt opened to average occupancy on Thursday, picked up on Friday, but dropped again on Saturday. Exhibitors here say, the Pre-Diwali and Navratri period has affected business. Delhi/UP is holding up better, but Mysore and other south circuits have been witnessing drops too.
The 200 crore mark is certainly out of reach now and it remains to be seen if the film can cross the 150 crore mark. The next two days are holidays, so Bang Bang has to grow on Sunday if it has to recover its huge costs.
We have said it before, we say it again – A star can only bring in audience in the first 2 or 3 days, after which the film relies almost entirely on word-of-mouth publicity. Jai Ho had mixed to negative reports, it failed. Ditto for Ra One. Films like Krrish 3, Kick and Chennai Express had good to mixed reports, which is good enough for a big star film released during a festive weekend with increased ticket prices.
The biggest impact of negative WOM in recent times was Besharam released on the exact same day last year. The film collected nearly 20 crore on its opening day because of Ranbir, but finished with lifetime business of less than 60 cr.
With a extended 5-day weekend filled with holidays, sky was the limit for Bang Bang which was expected to be one of the biggest grossers of the year and the highest grosser of Hrithik’s career. Unfortunately, a weak screenplay and poor direction has let the film down, big time!

Bang Bang will do huge business today and its total will be close to 100 cr, kick did its business in the same range that too with solo release but indicine is trying too hard to make bang bang look bad.

So as per a self acclaimed intelligent movie lover, if a person liked ce, kick, dhoom3 should also like bang bang.. Then can we say if a person who didn’t like ce, kick,dhoom3 should not like bang bang too.. But this guy liked bang bang and wants others to watch it.. Truly saying I m in love with katrina cutness she is best actress I saw bt only lookwise..if we come to her acting skills she is way behind or I must say zero..
Hrithik does all to make movie watchable nd also succeeded in some part of it…bt there were many drawback in the movie..
Like whn he jumps out of window taking katrina with him how he is still alive nd katrina too..
Then he took her with him to foreign countries nd she is still unconcious for whole journey nd howcome this thing be possible..
And when they are attacked in that island then how katrina a simple bank clerk knows to drive that shit by which she crosses whole sea by going in nd out of water…
Nd for hirithik I must say that he carried his some krish supernatural power in this movie also thats why most of the time he is flying…sometime above water and sometime above buildings

Looks like Hrithik has got his Ra.one experience too. Thought the film will be an above average at worst it is a failure even if it settles for a 150cr.

It is still decent collection at the box office. You can’t expect anything better than this from 3,600 screens!! and it’s too early to comment like that!! 150 crore shouldn’t be a problem but may be it won’t touch 200 crore
@wap4: lol. .i hadn’t rated bang bang high either in my review. All of the movies I have mentioned are average at best in terms of content,but entertaining. Problem is that people are calling it crap even though they haven’t watched it.

@utpal: HR is behind salman and SRK in terms of fan following. But in terms of BO in india, He has the ability to compete with them. K3 broke all records and became all time highest grosser. It did 36 crores of business in its 4th day beating CE business of 33 crores opening. Agneepath,kites,kmg,d2,krrish all had huge opening. The thing is that it has become a kinda blind belief after guzaarish failure and dabbang success in 2010 that only khans can rule BO. Bang Bang did gud business on opening despite clash,negativity and less number of shows per day.

I wish Bang Bang does not prove me wrong…I have predicted 190 Crores-210 Crores for it. I hope it can can earn at least 45 crores on Sun & Mon.
Collections are solid, not earth shattering, but solid. It is heading for around 140 crore week, which is huge due to clash. I wouldn’t say that even 200 crore is out of reach. We will know about it after Tuesday.

@Sumeet, stop comparing bang bang with kick. Kick just had two holidays in its first 5 days, while bb had almost 5. Bb had a popular face Katrina, while kick had a b-list heroine, jaq…bb had a bigger budget as well. The only minus point for the film is its clash with a small film haider.
It was obvious that Bang Bang is not going to cross 200 cr and it won’t make/break any records as too much negativity was surrounding this movie (which is not unfair also. It has nothing special so that it should break few records or it should cross 250cr.) Basically, they didn’t target the massES and this is where they failed. Some advance action scenes, romantic angle , chasing scenes and they thought they are done with their job. Indian filmmakers have to introspect again that if they are trying to copy hollywood stunts and action sequences , they should be over cautious about the content. They can’t drive the whole movie based on action and technology (Most recent disappointments are Ra-one and Bang Bang).
Now as I predicted, I guess this movie will end up in that range itself i.e somewhere between 150-170 cr.
