The Jungle Book is all set to become the highest grosser of 2016, as the film will beat the collections of Akshay Kumar’s Airlift this weekend. The Hollywood film is not only the best trending film of the year, but the only film that has found ‘universal appreciation‘.
The first week collections of Airlift was higher than The Jungle Book, but in the second week, the Akshay starrer will be left far behind. While Airlift collected 28.79 crore in Week 2, The Jungle Book has already collected 38.66 crore in 5 days and will finish with second week business of around 47 crore. It has achieved these numbers even with the release of a massive film like Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘FAN’ which released in 3500 screens and got plenty of shows at multiplexes.
The trend suggests that ‘The Jungle Book’ will finish with lifetime business of 150-160 crore net. It’ll be the film to beat this year and it’ll also be interesting to see if any ‘non-festive‘ release will beat the collections of ‘The Jungle Book’.

The producers have crossed the limits of manipulating.
If this would have released during Christmas 2015 then there would have been chances for the film to beat PK in India. FAKE COLLECTIONS

The years u mentioned you mentioned(1994, 2007 and 2012) are just Akshay’s best years. There are many times where Akshay did it, but there were 1 or 2 flops or underperformers as well.
Like 2006- Phir Hera Pheri and Bhagam Bhag were big hits but Janeman and Humko Deewane kar Gaye disappointed.
2000- Hera Pheri and Dhadkan were superhit and hit respectively but Khiladi 420 flopped.
2002- Aankhen and Awara Paagal Deewana were good hits. Both were among the biggest hits of that year but in the same year Maine bhi pyaar kiya and Jaani Dushman were big disappointments.

friends although jungle book may earn more but you should see that it had universal appeal. Every section of audience would love to watch it which was not the case with airlift which was a niche movie. You have seen the result of fan on non holiday niche release. Also airlift was akshay 5th release in 12 months. These things matter too
