The Jungle Book is all set to become the highest grosser of 2016, as the film will beat the collections of Akshay Kumar’s Airlift this weekend. The Hollywood film is not only the best trending film of the year, but the only film that has found ‘universal appreciation‘.
The first week collections of Airlift was higher than The Jungle Book, but in the second week, the Akshay starrer will be left far behind. While Airlift collected 28.79 crore in Week 2, The Jungle Book has already collected 38.66 crore in 5 days and will finish with second week business of around 47 crore. It has achieved these numbers even with the release of a massive film like Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘FAN’ which released in 3500 screens and got plenty of shows at multiplexes.
The trend suggests that ‘The Jungle Book’ will finish with lifetime business of 150-160 crore net. It’ll be the film to beat this year and it’ll also be interesting to see if any ‘non-festive‘ release will beat the collections of ‘The Jungle Book’.

Akshay’s comparatively less because no actor today does more than even 2 films per year. Whereas Akshay’s case is different, 1 movie in every 3 months with less promotions.
Did u forget 2007-2009 phase Akshay Kumar where he was the biggest superstar. Sallu was the biggest flop actor when he used to do 3 or more films per year.

So I found his performance in Airlift quite good when I compared that performance to his khiladi and housefull series movies. But obviously was not a classical performance. An honest opinion without any intention of bashing.

With no offence of bashing u, comedy is also a part of acting dude. Don’t know why ppl underestimate it! All actors – Big B, Deepika, Ranveer, Anupam kher, etc have said on a couple of occasions that comedy is the toughest genre to play! Still no one respects comedy actors and that’s really sad.
In Baby, Akshay’s character has just 1 mode- serious whereas in Housefull series and Singh is King type films his character has so many variations.
Presently we don’t have any actor who is as good as Akshay in comedy since very long.
Ritesh is great but he is not able to find much success, he is only depending on big stars and sex comedies.
But in my last comment I forgot mentioning that I do like his comic timing.
