Salman Khan’s Kick is likely to beat the lifetime business of Shahrukh Khan’s Chennai Express on Tuesday, as this year’s Eid release is all set to cross the 227 crore mark.
The film is Salman’s highest grosser of all time not just in the domestic markets but also internationally. Kick has grossed 68 crore from the overseas markets alone, almost doubling the business of his last release Jai Ho. However, the overseas collections pale in comparison to Chennai Express which grossed nearly 115 cr overseas.
Comparing the India business of the two films, Kick released on significantly higher number of screens, benefited from costlier tickets and had two open well. Chennai Express on the other hand had to compete against Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobaara on its 7th day of release, but had one of the most popular leading ladies and directors in the country, along with the star power of Shahrukh Khan. With Kick it was all about Salman.
The usual year-on-year growth for Eid releases was missing this year - Bodyguard 143 cr, Ek Tha Tiger 199 cr, Chennai Express 227 cr. All Eid releases in the last three years managed to quite comfortably beat the previous. Kick will also do the same, but the margin will be less than 10 crore.

Frankly, before the release of CE,i thought it would do around 150 crores.but it did 227 crs! For kick,i thought 200 crores would be easy.now it will do 230-234 crs around. .so kick was expected. Contentwise,both were below average.

Kick continues its glorious run at theatres across India despite in third week. The third week business is likely to be around the 14-14.5 crore mark and should cross the 229 crore mark on Thursday. It could go on to beat the lifetime business of Krrish3 (231 crore – Hindi only), which released in theatres during Dewali last year. Then Kick could be 2nd highest of all time behind Dhoom3 (Rs 270 crore – Hindi only) by the end of fourth weekend.

last year ce was rising on the shoulers of Deepika more than king but salman once again proved his stardom is unmatchable to any other star without a big heroine, first time director, one month promotion, pre eid release almost same ticket price as ce or d3 .
is there anything required for salman to prove who is the king?? but king need atleast 6 to 8 months for promotion only with big director a class heroine and big holiday release. of course there was competition from outimd because they don’t afraid of srk and in case of salman baaki sab ki phatti hai.
that’s why there was not a single release for two weeks against kick. who said not to release a movie against kick?? we will be waiting for next eid and diwali as there is bb on eid wiht k khan and prdp with the biggest director of indian cinema sooraj barjatiya. lets see what this movies will offer.

The truth is ce has trended better than kick which one can easily understand by comparing their 3rd weekend collections.ce lost screens to ouatimd and madras cafe on its 3rd while kick has also lost large no. Of screens to entertainment and both ce and kick have equal ticket prices in the 3rd weekend.
Yet ce earned 10.48cr in 3rd weekend while kick has earned 8.75cr.
overseas collection of kick is much lower than ce…no one knows salman outside india,he is still chasing 7yr old record of oso,mnik n ce r simply out of his reach
