Salman Khan’s Kick is likely to beat the lifetime business of Shahrukh Khan’s Chennai Express on Tuesday, as this year’s Eid release is all set to cross the 227 crore mark.
The film is Salman’s highest grosser of all time not just in the domestic markets but also internationally. Kick has grossed 68 crore from the overseas markets alone, almost doubling the business of his last release Jai Ho. However, the overseas collections pale in comparison to Chennai Express which grossed nearly 115 cr overseas.
Comparing the India business of the two films, Kick released on significantly higher number of screens, benefited from costlier tickets and had two open well. Chennai Express on the other hand had to compete against Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobaara on its 7th day of release, but had one of the most popular leading ladies and directors in the country, along with the star power of Shahrukh Khan. With Kick it was all about Salman.
The usual year-on-year growth for Eid releases was missing this year - Bodyguard 143 cr, Ek Tha Tiger 199 cr, Chennai Express 227 cr. All Eid releases in the last three years managed to quite comfortably beat the previous. Kick will also do the same, but the margin will be less than 10 crore.

After CE HONEY SINGH has given many chartbuster songs for films like BOSS, YARRIAN, BR etc….how many of them gained as much success as CE ???
Deepika debuted with SRK in OSO and got 86 crs in 800 screens despite clash…she was made an A grade actress by SRK….If she can make CE a success then surely he can make Finding Fanny a 200 crs success.
And now the holiday factor – – – CE got eid in 3600 screens with lower tickets price than KICK while KICK got 4400 screens with increased price of tickets…result CE 29.+ crs and KICK 30 crs approx. …The pre eid factor is definitely maked up by post eid factir which provided the film witj outstanding numbers after eid whike CE didn’t enjoyed this factor…it got INDEPENDENCE DAY RAKSHABANDHAN all with competition with many big films like OUATIMD MC and SATYAGRAHA….They trrnded the same way as IE.. and got poor to average response…KICK got 4400 screens upto 2 weekd and then 1000 screens from 3 rd week whike CE got 1500-1800 screens from its 7th day and 800,500 screens with competition from MC and SATYAGRAHA.
And lastly a 100 crs star film is releasing with a 200 crs director 200 crs actress and 200 crs singer and on a holiday. …hope it crosses CE weekend numbers.

No..! Its totally unfair. Its not at all a comparison.
Agreed Kick is a big success for Salman Khan, his first 200 cr movie. This itself makes it huge, but as far as comparison is concerned, I must say Kick is lagging behind CE.
The adverse conditions which CE faced, were not present at the time of release of Kick.
CE was sandwiched between three biggies:
1. OUATIMD – A sequel of a super hit movie
2. Satyagraha – A director who has a legacy of movies like Gangajal, Apharan , Rajneeti and Arakshan
3. Madras cafe – A critically acclaimed movie
and remember, two of above three movies released within two weeks of release of CE.
Though Kick also faced competition with Entertainment, but then it completed its glorious run of two weeks and mind it, now a days maximum collection comes from starting couple of weeks only.
As far as star cast is concerned, CE indeed had better star cast than Kick, but then if they you make a movie with three khans, and give only three open days, they won’t do any miracle. Movie will hardly collect 120 cr. So various factors affect a movie and such comparison is not at all fair.
If someone will sit back and think neutrally ( including Salman fans) , they can easily get to know who is the clear winner.
Anyway no offense to Salman. He gave his first 200 cr film and this indeed is a big thing for him and his fans.

All SRK fans where did you hide when Dabangg collected 145cr with 1600 screens nd ur king’s 170cr budgeted movie Ra One which released 1 year later collected only 113cr with 2900 screens, with higher ticket price, without any competition. Where did u hide when Don 2 collected only 106cr with 2800 screens, with higher price, with christmas holyday, without any competition while Salman’s non holyday release Ready collected 125cr with 1700screens and lower ticket price.

Film promo is on the lines of ‘Om Shanti Om’ as far as typical Bollywood masala is concerned. It is bigger and better in terms of scale. Promo showcases Shahrukh Khan in rather different looks and his romantic moments are cherry on the cake.

Kick Becomes Second Highest Grosser Of All Time

Kick has now become the second highest grossing film of all time as it added around 6.50 crore nett in its third weekend taking the seventeen day total to 210 crore nett nett. There was a drop of 80% in the third weekend due to the release of Entertainment.
The other 200 crore nett plus films were 3 Idiots at 201 crore nett and Chennai Express at 208 crore nett which have both been surpassed by Kick now. The highest grossing film of all time is Dhoom 3 which grossed 260 crore nett and Kick will not get close to this figure.
Kick is looking at a finish in the 215-220 crore nett range and will set new lifetime records in a few circuits as it crosses the business of Dhoom 3. The film is the biggest grosser of Salman Khan in every circuit in India.
