Q. With all the hype around Youtube views, does it really make a big different at the box office? As we mostly see that trailers of Ajay Devgn movies dont get too many views on Youtube but are huge successes at the box office? – Veer Joshi
A. Youtube views does help generate buzz on social media websites and the ‘views’ / ‘likes’ records also keeps the film in news. But its pretty obvious from the Top 10 most viewed trailers of all time, that the list is dominated by the top actors in the industry. Krrish 3 with 22 million views featured Hrithik Roshan in the lead, with Rakesh Roshan as its director. Dhoom 3, Jab Tak Hai Jaan and now Kick were Aamir, SRK and Salman starrers. The lead actors, director, banner generate the views on Youtube.
If a trailer is highly ‘liked’, it goes viral on the internet and also goes on the homepage of Youtube, which helps it garner even more views.
At the end of the day, it all boils down to the content. If a trailer is good, the viewer might instantly decide to watch the film in theatre. On the other hand, if he / she doesn’t like it, it does count as a view on Youtube, but doesn’t convert into a ticket sold at the box office.

@nipun wateva u said doesnt make sense.. N boi figures foh k3 day one was 20+ crore.. They corrected it later. N one more thing u just cant say the hype sorrounding ramleela was less.. It collected 100+ crores.. N yupp I believe k3 real collection is around 190-200 crores including all versions.. N hindi I gues wil b sumwhere 175-185… Ma reason being is unavailability of territorial breakdown by rakesh roshan(y on earth he was unable to show).. Plus the drop shown in week three was huge.. more than ce. This could happen only if the movie is lagging behind.. N ur statement abt tracking single screens by boi becomes completely baseless after d3’s collections… It released in probably more no.of screens n stil the collections wer more accurate.. How cum dat.??
N plzz dont say k boi supports srk salmam or aamir.. It favours none.. Remember jthj n ett collections.. Their figures foh akshay kumar’s movies are always accurate… So foh aamir.
@damnn:BOI has got a huge attention after the k3 figure. .logically,it’s figure is very less and i cann’t trust it. .i have already given comments over it. .producers manipulate .but no one can manipulate 50-60 crores as they have to give tax for that. .also, even hr has given a statement and i have faith on roshans. . And they gave territorial break down for day 1. .and i’m not saying that ramleela’s hype was less. .but was it more dan k3? ?
@damnn:drop in week 3 is natural due to release of hyped ramleela. .
And i wonder boi first showed 46 crs of 2nd week. .then they changed it to 42 crs. Same happened wid 1st week figure also
K3 and Hrithiks success shows what called a real jealousy :D :D the people can not deny truth, they still not believe in most trade analysers…. 95% trades told K3 did 246cr, just b’coz Hrithik beats their star @ BO they cant borrow truth
