A: The first week of January was considered to be unlucky for film releases, but that has changed after the release of No One Killed Jessica. Having said that, films that released in the last week of December (Ghajini, 3 Idiots, Don 2, Dabangg 2 for example) have done well in the first week of January.
The ‘Republic Day’ weekend has been fairly good for the industry in the last couple of years. Agneepath is the highest grosser in the month of January, followed by Jai Ho, Race 2, Yamla Pagla Deewana and Rang De Basanti — all films released during the ‘Republic Day’ weekend except Yamla Pagla Deewana (14 Jan 2011).

@indicine Can i know where & from which source have you posted the figures & verdicts of films JaiHo & Race2,because even if we consider the figs of @BoxOfficeIndia.com JaiHo is semihit with 107.37cr & race2 also a semihit with 95cr.So i am very much eager to know where the conspiracy has been done.As this site is not at all biased towards anyone so get me the link or rectify your mistake.Remember after all the verdict given by @BOI is the ultimate result.
@hrithik, lol if agneepath was big due to item song and sanjay’s look then most of salman film’s credit goes to item songs only because all his films feature vulgar item songs. dabangg’s credit goes to munni badnam, ready’s credit goes to character dheela, bodyguard credit goes to kat’s item song, dabangg 2 credit goes to fevicol se.

GREEK GOD ROCKSS!!! He started the trend of releasing big movies during republic day weekend when whole industry was mad after eid,christmas and diwali. Thanx to him now republic day weekend is also a date for a big film every year but none of the films have reached Agneepath’s level which collected 122 cr in much lesser screens.
Jai Ho released in 4000+ screens and got 108 cr, Agneepath released in 2700 screens and got 122 cr. Hrithik was coming after Guzaarish and ZNMD , salman was coming after his so called back to back blockbusters.

Some stupid above is saying that if agneepath is succesful becoz of sanjay dutt,katrina & rishi kapoor then every Salman Khan movie’s credit should go the item songs done by few actresses.I wonder how dumbo is he ? Every kid will except that Sanjay’s look and his villiany character has outperformed the whole movie.Even Rishi Kapoor too bagged an important role after years and he won even awards for his performance in that film.Most importantly Katrina’s item song is the only entertaining factor throughout the slow paced film.Finally let me clarify you something that when its a Salman Khan starrer film,the whole cast & crew,story,music,item songs,villian of the film all comes secondary.This is what called stardom which Hrithik himself admitted that if I’m casted in film like Ready it won’t be atleast an average flick.Films like Wanted,Ready,Bodyguard,Ek Tha tiger,Dabangg2 & even Jaiho managed to do close to 108cr with just his star power but not for asin,Sonakshi sinha,diasy shah or Tabu.Agneepath without Sanjay dutt,Rishi Kapoor & Katrina’s song will max finish under 60cr like guzarrish.Be practical dude because u r mentally nude.

@sumeet : stop being a fanatic. Agneepath was not HR best, he did better in KMG, JA & Guzaarish. Chikni Chameli was sonng of the year n no doubt HR is better actor than Salman but Salman is bigger superstar than HR according to stardom, popularity, experience & fan following. Also remember it was Salman who guided HR (physical training) during his initial days. I admire Hrithik but dont force me to behave with you as same as Srk fans !!!!!!!!
