Buddha Hoga Tera Baap has been declared a FLOP by the trade. Here are some of the reasons..
- The theatrical business has failed to live up to expectations as the Amitabh Bachchan starrer opened to a disappointing response on Friday. The film was quite obviously affected by the release of biggies like Delhi Belly and Transformers 3.
- On weekdays the business was steady on the lower side, but not enough to recover its investment through theatrical business. The satellite rights have been sold for Rs 13.5 crores which will help the film break-even.
- Second week was always going to be crucial but the release of Murder 2 has meant that Buddha has been replaced at single screens by the Emraan Hashmi starrer.
- At multiplexes too Buddha Hoga Tera Baap has lost out on more than 60% of its shows, due to the release of Murder 2 and the craze amongst the youth for Delhi Belly has resulted in the exhibitors increasing the number of shows in its second week.
Overall, the craze for Delhi Belly along with the release of Murder 2 this week has affected Buddha badly. 2nd week collections are expected to be very low and the theatrical business of Amitabh Bachchan’s much hyped return-to-yesteryear roles will remain a mega disappointment!

But yes I do agree with you that even BHTBaap may not be great movie but no one can deny spectacular performance by BIGB……haters will say that movie is flop but fans will say its not flop………arguing with those people will lead to nowhere………..total worldwide gross (iincluding satellite rights) for BHTBaap so far is more than 35 crores and I dont think any other 69 year old SOLO actor in the history of Indian cinema who can achieve that or even play the role that BIGB did with such enthusiasm and energy……….For us fans its a thing to cherish and for haters its a bad news………

Indicine has given the verdict of this film as “Below average” and i think thats absolutely correct for this film. I agree with some points that you made and your opinion might be different to mine.. but i frankly feel if a film doesnt do atleast 10% more than its investment at the box office (i.e theatres) it cannot be called a clean hit..
How can you call a film a hit when the distributors loose money? Doesnt matter if producers make a lot of money, its the distributors share that counts..
Can you quote any source that says all distributors have made money? They havent.. go and check multiplxes.. only 1 or 2 shows of buddah for this week..
and you still cant explain the 15% opening.. if bachchan is as big a star as you boast around here.. WHY DID IT OPEN AT 15%?

when viacom say 21 crores, bachchans are saying 17 crores.. how can figures vary so much? how much the film costs noone knows.. all that we know is.. at the indian box office it wont touch 17 crores, forget about 21..
so imo its a flop or below average.. lets see if big b has the guts to make a sequel out of this.. if it was indeed a profit making film.. he will make a sequel as director puri jagannah announced on the same day that it opened to 15% collections.. LOL
And the oh so many films of big b that you talk about.. have been hits ONLY when there is a bigger star to carry the film.. only Baghban did well but even that had a certain Mr Salman Khan, doesnt matter if it was only a special apperance..
So tell me? Any SOLO amitabh film that has been a decent grosser? any hit that did more than 25 crores? Please tell me..
please priyanka he may be a nice person..but his school of acting is over now… the familiar breaks ..the pauses have become too loony in todays time ,its apity that the entire clans movies are not working… be it action replay,, raavan dum maro dum or bbudaah.. paa was never a hit it merely got rave reviews .. some jerks liked the looney monkey act thats all.. these south indian directors are wanting to enter mainstreem bollywood and are making these southie films in hindi .. this bbudaah was also full of southie touches whch is why it failed cos upnoth we dont like to wear lungi

Dost, I respect your point….I know ultimatley BHTBaap may end up being Average at boxoffice……..Atleast you were talking to me properly and with some points …I respect even if there is any disagreement because you put your points properly unlike others who are just blind bigb haters…………Whether BHTBaap ends up in a profitable venture or below average, ultimately I wont get anything from this…….If you have noticed I just had fun with BIGB haters and nothing else…..
BIGB is the oldest SOLO actor of the industry who did his best and performed well for a role given to him…..and having an overall business of 35 crores (till now) is no mean achievement especially when you are pitted against the Number 1 Brand of industry (AMIR KHAN)…..the status that Amir enjoys is what amitabh used to enjoy in 70s and early 80s when just by the mention of his name films like andha kannon and Giraftaar used to be megahits……thats why I have tremendous respect for Amir……He is not scared of any movie pitted against him becoz he knows people will come just by the mention of his name as he is number 1 brand as far as movies are concerned…….
But at the same time we need to realize that there is no one who is in the league of BIGB today (as an Actor, as a Star or as a TV host)…..hence its strange when people compare BIGB to other stars whether he does SOLO roles or central roles…….How can one compare any star with him today..

When I say SOLO I was referring to movies like SARKAR, PAA, SARKAARRAAJ, CHEENI KUM, BUNTY AUR BUBLY (unless you think abhishek is a bigger star than BIGB), BHOOTNAATH, BAGHBAAN (i think its unfair not to call it a BIGB film) KAANTE (unless you assume sanju baba is bigger star than BIGB), AANKEHIN (unless you assume that Akshay was bigger star back then in 2002 than BIGB), ……they all did good business my friend………
I never denied that BIGB had his shares of flops and disaster but tell me in this competitive era how many different roles can be created for BIGB to play as SOLO hero???……..Even then he gave success as a SOLO hero which is not a less achievement…….Taking about his brand as TV host also (the reason I am mentioning that becoz TV is now bigger than cinema) howcome no one was able to create the charisma like KBC???…….Why even so many shows right now KBC is the most watched show??…….there must be something in him that makes him a big brand in his own leguae……..

But just becaudse you’re a Bachchan fan doesn’t mean you sould bash DB, many liked it and enjoyed it, yes it was vulgar but didn’t the producer warn everyone that it’s an adult movie? If you cannot digest vulgarity why did you watch it then?
The film was highly acclaimed by critics, a Superhit at BO and on its way to become a cult classic.

if bifg b makes craps film why should i hate him ..dont you guye understand deliberarte puns and expressions of disgust .. if we find the film so disgsting and collections pathetis the pun intended is that i lost so much that i will go bankrupt .. many a times we make statements for ourselves .. the problem is that even if any begger stand on a stret where begging is not allowed he will still manage a few rs.. and similar is the case with this bbudaah .. imr kaankhajoora alias kk has admitted the film is no big shakes .. and slowly has toned down saying only that bigbs performance was superlative.. mr kaan ka kachhca alias kk agrees therefore that rest of the cast was o good.. and the site for which he is writing has claimed the film to be a flop yet mr karwa karela is going on priasing the fllm as if it was the next casablanca .. he is very happy with a few crores being added here and there.. big b has been consistently fooling the public by giving same expressions same mannerisms over hte years .. is that a cause to hate him?? and mere hate karne se kya hota hai .. its not cos i hate him athat the film didnt do stupendos business, doing a business of 15 crore means that only 40 lac people sayw the film ..it is the verdict of the nation.. that means his fan bassee is 9 lacs and their familes!!!.. and if you call yourself lovers tell me what is so nice about RANn THAT IT COLuldnt be ahit amongst other flops.. in any film that big b does he never is a sidekick.. tell me any film where he has made an appearance like salman khan did in baghbaan?

my favorite actor if you ask at this moment would be ajay devgn.. i thought he will walk away with all the awards with mumbai .. ima little disappointed with his selection of his latest singham ..it is obviusly a remake of a south indian film ..the problem is south indian remakes dont work with me their larger than life action emotion is too much to digest.. i think im gaoing to skip this one but i loved his comic timong in all the golmaal editions
and off course ranbir kapoor and his wake up sid..i just loved him ..his charactter was so much like my son and so natural too…i wonder how people can like bbudaah and that too the present gen…im surprised when me who has spent her entire childhood watching his films…bas bigb somehow nazaron se utar gaye
Oh yes i love Ajay and i liked his performance in OUATIM, he was better than SRK’s MNIK and Hrithik’s Guzaarish who both overcated big time in my opinion. Ajay is one of the best actors now along with Aamir, but that does not matter if he does not recieve awards we all know those who win are not the deserving ones, like in 2002, Ajay was the best in LOBS and Company way better than SRK in Devdas! and he won a National Award, same goes for Zakhm, Omkara…very versatile actor but he’s not finding a place in the industry maybe because he lacks audience appeal or good looks like Akshay, Hrithik, Aamir, SRK and Salman.
As for Singham though it’s a remake but i liked the promo seems very promising for me and looking forward to watch the film, i think the film will bring Ajay back if it becomes a hit. Wish him all the best.
Oh Ranbir i love him too, he’s the future biggest superstar of the industry, exellent actor.

there are things i like about srk ..there are things i dont.. i dont like the arrogance the way he tries to be witty on the podium may it be any .. i saw the toronto iifa awards and he was being too pompous ..people love me etc etc.. he certainly never deserved the award for mnik .. it was a bad film with apoor story. i will always remember him for swades.. no stammering singing loud with arms stretched just an honest act.. i like aamir when he underplays the character like in tzp and ghajini ..i like salman too but not in the veer act ..his best act of the year was truly amazing..nothing against big b too just that hes done this angry man act too many times and his brand of comedy is very similar from amar akbar anthony to this day..
but todays generation boys have gone ahead of him even ahead of abhishek and that can be very dampening for him…people seriously are not interested with him they want to see something new novel not loudmouth acts..and the new lads are very promising
Me too i like SRK and hate him in the same time, i liked him in Swades it’s his best acting till date, i liked him in old days i.e in the 90’s like in KHKN, Darr, Baazigar, Dil Se; but i don’t know why he tied up with gay johar!!!
Aamir to be really honest i’m a big fan and admirer of him just when i watched JJWS and then QSQT!!
He was truely cute and amazing, and who can forget his acting in Sarfarosh, Earth, Ghulam and Rangeela…., And you said you like him when he underplays!! what did you mean? Well i loved his performances in the past more but i liked him in 3 Idiots also, not too much in Ghajini.
Salman, i like him, don’t know why, but simply i like him, though he has limited acting skills compared to the other two Khans, still there’s something cute about him. He acted very well in Tere Naam he was amazing. Also in Dabangg he was good, he is probably the biggest star today, the king of masses.
I think each one of them is special, and Bollywood would be incomplete without them.
And what about Hrithik and Akshay???
