Singham Returns has recorded the highest first day collections for films released in 2014. The film has collected around 20% more than Salman Khan’s Kick which released on a non-holiday during the Ramadan period.
Holiday releases usually tend to collect about 50% more than non-holiday releases. However, the average ticket prices of Singham Returns was lower than Kick and the number of screens was also about 10% lesser.
The hugely popular Singham brand, director Rohit Shetty and the presence of Ajay Devgn has ensured that Singham Returns has posted opening day records in several circuits including Mumbai, C.P Berar, C.I and Rajasthan. Other territories like West Bengal and Mysore, where such films don’t usually perform well, have also scored big on Day 1.

@ arjun kapoor, get the hell out of here, if a useless film like kick and Chennai express can collect more than 200 crores then why cant singham returns, it is 10 times better than those craps, I think you are jealous of ajay success as he has kicked out salman khan and has arranged a return ticket for srk in chillar express as far as opening day record is concerned and that too with lesser screens and reasonable ticket price

Agree with mithaiwala, Ajay is mostly responsible for the success of Singam so as Rohit shetty. Their combo is best for me as they never failed to give what was expect from their side. Last year ce crossed 200cr only due to srk and rohit as well as deepika, same way Aamir crossed 200cr because he has combo like Dhoom franchise and Raju hirani. There is saying that an actor can give you the opening but only a good team work mostly a good direction can make the film huge grosser. Rohit is became most popular director of current time with huge success like Golmaal 3 (107cr) 2nd highest grosser of 2010 with clash on diwali, Singham 98cr 5th highest grosser when second week of it was pre Ramadan while in multiplex it got tough competition with znmd (which was on second week), 2012-bol bachchan 104cr non holiday completion in second week with multiplex oriented big hit cocktail (more than jthj-102 and talash-93cr) and 2013-big star,properfestive release and 208cr lifetime. So rohit-ajay combo rocks. Deserving.
